I’m looking for robotics engineers and technicians in San Francisco! As a former Cruiser, I feel for the employees today whose mission was cut short. Perhaps I can offer a new mission, very close to home. #cruise#autonomousvehicles#hiring#robotics https://t.co/dSaTsEUPCF
Got to see a driverless @zoox car pick up a passenger! So cool! Anyone able to refer me in to the beta testing program? I’m dying to ride in the toaster. #zoox
@kingharrison@elonmusk Been going back and forth on picking up a 3/Y for a daily and want to tow a motorcycle but I can’t make it to the track and back without having to unhitch to charge. Will need to see if there are any like that here
For every company I've worked for, there's a set of like 3 questions you get asked over and over. For Waymo, it's 1) What happens if I grab the wheel (please don't), 2) Do the cars speed (no), and 3) Have you heard this "Way Mo'" pun before
We have granted additional operating authority for @Cruise and @Waymo to conduct commercial passenger service using driverless vehicles in San Francisco. The approval includes the ability for both companies to charge fares for rides at any time of day. https://t.co/QqWRAEbnGQ
Quite divided - I counted ~96 public comments in support and 90 against. It stayed almost 50/50 the entire hearing. Clearly much more work to be done, both in SF and nationally as AVs roll out to more cities.
The CPUC vote tonight to give Cruise & Waymo the OK to expand in SF is certainly the biggest AV story of the year, but this is nowhere near a settled issue. The 7.5-hour hearing, most of which were public comments was a clear indicator of how divided folks are about robotaxis
