Why do Irish people have a kinship with Palestinians?

We suffered at the hands of a barbaric colonial superpower for centuries

Our people were murdered and marginalised due to their religion.

Our people were systematically starved (whilst Irish food was exported to England)

Multiple famines, millions dead, land stolen, forced migration etc etc etc.

What is the difference between what my Irish ancestors suffered to what the Palestinians are suffering today? One less than subtle difference is that our people were not being butchered on an industrial scale in conjunction to being systematically starved to death.
