Regarding flights from Akrotiri base, a question was put to the MoD in October about the use of UK surveillance aircraft in Gaza. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary gave this answer: “unarmed UK surveillance aircraft are employed solely to support hostage rescue. Only information relating to hostage rescue will be passed to the relevant Israeli authorities responsible for hostage rescue.”

Since then I have tried to ask a follow up written question. However, I have been informed that I am not able to probe further, with reference to this Government statement: https://t.co/weTwCfNngX.

That’s hugely frustrating and I don’t buy the line that operational security is a good enough justification for Ministers to prevent any scrutiny of what’s happening from Akrotiri base.
