I got a 77.78% salary hike within 6 months of my first job.
Your first job is the most difficult territory for you to survive.
Most people quit, get fired, burnout because it's a new world for everyone at least once.
I survived.
And I want to share these 9 things with you which every manager should be doing while onboarding new team members.
1. Over communicate: Always make sure to explain or report anything in a verbose manner. "Done" or "Working on it" are not the way to go. Over communicate is way better than under-communication.
2. Don’t hesitate to ask questions: Asking questions will help you learn new stuff, improve your workflow, and enable you to get the task done quickly. Silly questions are usually the most logical.
3• Decision making: That's the most puzzling situation. It's hard to make decisions as a junior developer. Sometimes you will be stuck in a dilemma where you have to make a decision. Think Twice, analyze possible outcomes, and take action accordingly.
4. Explore more: Keep exploring new technologies, tools, and ideas to help you deliver your goals 10X faster. Explore things, get inspired, and deliver things.
5. Note it down: Trust me, your productivity will increase 10 times if you start noting down things. Prepare your day plan, take notes in meetings, and work accordingly.
6. Build trust: This may sound silly but managers hate to manage. They do have much important work to do. Always make sure to complete the insistent tasks that your manager assigned. That's how you can gain trust and stop being micromanaged.
7. Fix your schedule: It will feel like you have no time to do your stuff in your initial days. Eight hours job + eight hours sleep. You still have eight more hours to do what you want to do. Work in slots, if possible.
8. Criticism is fuel: Being criticized is not a bad thing if related to work. Feedback is essential, and when it comes in a grating way, it will help you improve even faster.
9. Love what you do: Everything might be challenging in the beginning. Adapting to a new place, work, and people is not easy at all. Take it slow, give it some time, and then get your teeth into it.
That's all.
You can win too.
MYTH: you need to be a programming genius to land a high-paying job.
REALITY: you need a strong portfolio of projects.
Here are awesome projects you should add to your resume.
