2/2 Casual cyclists, families out for recreational rides, people commuting to work have respect for all road users. The swamping of our roads with lycra clad middle aged men with a bad attitude is very annoying and gives normal cyclists like myself a bad name.

Why do we have to put up with increasing number of cyclists racing on the roads? They block up our road, making travel impossible! The roads are dangerous enough without racing cyclists blocking it, riding 3 abreast or in 'pelatons', obstructing traffic. 1/2

They partied , they bet on elections , they crashed the economy, they broke every public service, they destroyed integrity and honesty in public office , they paid their mates billions , they put their friends in the House of Lords, they gave their cronies knighthoods, they went into the jungle , they lied again and again, they were convicted by police, they went on holiday when they shouldn’t and they have the cheek to question Keir Starmer’s work ethic. I would never take anything for granted but I hope they are annihilated on Thursday. The worst people and government we have ever had!

The media this morning is full of the usual government ghouls smugly celebrating the Rwanda Bill passing its Commons second reading last night.

My experience working for a former government chief whip tells me there’s not much cause for that celebration.

A successful second reading simply confirms that a majority of MPs are prepared to discuss the bill. Nothing more than that.

It doesn’t mean there’s a majority in favour of what’s actually written in the bill.

It doesn’t mean that any revised version of the bill that emerges from committee stage will enjoy majority support.

It doesn’t mean the ultra-right-wing Tory factions won’t vote the bill down at third reading.

And it tells us absolutely nothing about what the House of Lords will do with it.

Celebrating the second reading of this bill is like celebrating a tight-rope walker placing his first foot on the wire, a wire stretching out so far into the distance that he cannot see the other end, over a ravine 100 metres deep and filled with sharp rocks, with no net, in the middle of a hurricane.

And even if the bill makes it onto the statute books, what then?

Will it help ordinary, decent people meet the exorbitant cost of heating their homes this winter? No.

Will it enable them to feed their kids properly? No.

Will it ensure they receive the timely healthcare they need. No.

This is grotesque political theatre in response to very real hardship that should be unthinkable in this once great nation.

Shame on this government. #StopTheRot
