The Humility and Kindness of the Promised Messiah (as)
“Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad Isma’il Sahib relates that the excellent moral qualities of the Promised Messiah (as) were such that even when those people, who were ever engaged in opposing the Promised Messiah (as) and did not spare any such opportunity, would come and knock at his door, I observed that the Promised Messiah (as) would immediately meet them barefoot and as soon as he saw them, he would reply to their greeting with utmost kindness and ask if they and their families were well and healthy.
Following this, he would inquire of them why they had come to visit him. They would then express their need. Upon this, he would ask them how much money they needed and he would then give them even more than what they needed and say: ‘If you need more then take more!’
He would treat even his opponents with utmost kindness and would always present himself before them with modesty and never display any arrogance.”

Arrogance and Self-Deception
The Promised Messiah (as) said that if a person holds firmly to this belief — of regarding themselves as nothing before God — then there is hope that through Allah's grace their moral and spiritual condition will become truly excellent. He warned that even considering oneself to be something in this world is itself a form of arrogance — and it is precisely this condition that corrupts a person, until they reach a state where they curse others and look down upon them with contempt.

The Illusion of Self-Greatness
The Promised Messiah (as) said that a human being — who is in reality a weak and helpless creature — begins, through the misfortune of his own deeds, to think of himself as something great. Arrogance and pride take root within him. And as long as a person does not consider himself the least of all in the path of Allah, he cannot find true salvation.

Humility as a condition for Divine Acceptance
The Promised Messiah (as) said that unless a person treats a poor, helpless old woman with the same warmth and respect that they show — or ought to show — to a person of high status and nobility, and unless they guard themselves from every form of pride and arrogance, they can never, under any circumstances, enter the kingdom of God.
