From my reading, the founders intended generations to periodically update the rules. In 90's I thought 2000 was a good target for a Constitutional group to review/ discuss/ update to modern times, rather than amending 17/1800s thinking.

@LeftyWinter After WW2 most of Europe went ~socialist. The US could do that too but I don't think US voters would want the taxes. Like Bernie Sanders, you list the benefits and not the cost.

I saw on TV a few years ago that the theatre system still works AND was the reason for "summer blockbuster movies": people WITHOUT AC would pay to sit in a building WITH AC ( maybe even without the movie??)
