What began life as a rough plan written on a fume hood sash is now published! Extremely proud of all the co-authors, in-particular my co-lead @juliencsenecal, for all their hard work to get the first @OFKLab paper out into the world.
Pillar[6]arene by the bucketful!

This accidentally made (and cleverly discovered) byproduct has unprecedented and useful #methyllysine selectivity. It took years to figure out all the details of how this oddball works—congrats to Alok,Graham, & team for being such careful scientists. https://t.co/CbTLaX7hqJ
TIL that the captioning program doesn’t know the word Pillararenes:
“Pillories” “Pillow Firing” “Post-sexually Pillow 16" “Pillow Sex Rain” “Pillow Six Screens” “Pelicans”

Angewandte Chimie published an article (now retracted) by a Brock University CRC attacking equity, diversity & inclusion. As a Latinx scientist & former CRC I am appalled by the piece & the fact that it was published in an allegedly reputable journal. Agency response forthcoming.
This is something I never thought I would write: the University of Victoria @uvic Department of Chemistry @chemistryatuvic is licensed by Health Canada to manufacture EtOH sanitizer. Massive thanks to all who did the literal heavy lifting, while I pushed the paperwork remotely!
The University of Victoria has its first confirmed case of a community member testing positive for COVID-19. According to @VanIslandHealth, risk of community transmission is low.
