One of the best souls I know suddenly developed heart problems after the birth of her son. Her ❤️ became enlarged during pregnancy and we all hoped it will go back to normal after birth.

We sadly lost her few days to her surgery.

When I think about her, I remember how she honoured me with a visit afew hours before passing and her last words to me were " I'm already tired, if not for Adnan, I won't even be having a surgery. Anyhow, it ends you people should sha look after him for me and make sure you don't miss me too much".

I was still looking at her status after iftar 3hrs later, when I received the news of her death. She made iftar for her sister's (my friend) family, prayed Isha'i, updated her status and closed her eyes to sleep. The sister found her dead when she took in her son to go lay beside her.

Each time I think about life too much, I remember what she looked like on the slab during the Janaza, the ever beautiful Bola, how we removed all her signature Gold adornments, beads, looses and plait her hair 😭😭😭 qand I'm reminded yet again that we are just travellers here on earth.

When I hear people say pregnancy isn't life threatening, I quickly scroll up, before my anger get the best of me and curse them out.

Her name is Omowunmi, and she’s only 25 years old.

She got pregnant, and a few months into her pregnancy, a large dark mark suddenly appeared on her back.

At first, everyone thought it was just pregnancy-induced eczema, so it wasn't taken too seriously.

But instead of disappearing, it kept getting WORSE.

Even after she gave birth, her condition continued to deteriorate until she had to be rushed back to the hospital for proper medical attention.

After several tests, Omowunmi was diagnosed with LUPUS — an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues.

Sadly, tragedy struck again. 💔

Omowunmi lost her baby at just 1 month and 10 days old.

According to her account, the baby's death was linked to complications associated with lupus.

Unfortunately, lupus currently has no cure, but with proper treatment and medical management, its symptoms and complications can often be controlled.

The disease can affect different parts of the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs and other organs.
