❕ Putin failed to derail Armenia’s elections

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 49.81% of the vote in Armenia’s parliamentary elections.

The figures come from the Central Election Commission after votes from all polling stations were counted.

Despite falling just short of the 50% mark, Pashinyan’s party remains the clear winner, finishing far ahead of its nearest competitors.

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has also congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on his claimed election victory.

The message follows an earlier congratulatory statement by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, which was issued before the completion of the official vote count.

In his message, Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan is ready to continue active cooperation with friendly Armenia in all areas of mutual interest.

FINAL RESULTS OF ARMENIA'S PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

With 1,476,916 votes counted, the Central Election Commission has published the final results of the parliamentary elections.

▫️"Civil Contract" Party: 727,160 votes (49.81%)
▫️"Strong Armenia" Alliance: 340,062 votes (23.29%)
▫️"Armenia" Alliance: 145,097 votes (9.94%)
▫️"Prosperous Armenia" Party: 58,368 votes (4.00%)

Parties and alliances that failed to meet the electoral threshold will not receive seats in parliament. Their votes will be redistributed in the seat allocation process among the political forces that passed the threshold.

Based on the final results, the projected seat distribution in the National Assembly is:

▫️"Civil Contract" Party: 61 seats
▫️"Strong Armenia" Alliance: 28 seats
▫️"Armenia" Alliance: 11 seats
▫️"Prosperous Armenia" Party: 5 seats

While the ruling "Civil Contract" Party is projected to retain a parliamentary majority, it falls short of the 70 seats required for a constitutional majority.

A total of 1,476,916 ballots were counted nationwide.

🇦🇲 Pashinyan declares victory for his Civil Contract party in Armenia’s parliamentary elections

At the time of his announcement, less than 20% of the votes had been counted.

By the morning, more than 95% of precinct protocols had been processed. Civil Contract is currently receiving 50.1% of the vote, followed by Strong Armenia with 23.3%, the Armenia Alliance with 9.83%, and Prosperous Armenia with 4%.

Pashinyan stressed that Armenia would continue pursuing closer ties with the West while maintaining cooperation with Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Responding to a question from a Turkish journalist, Pashinyan also stated that Armenians had voted for peace with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

According to him, the next step is signing the peace agreement with Baku, as well as opening the Armenian-Turkish border and establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
