@TimothyALeePub The edition of wikitext, for the Tractates edited by SG bohrer (the order of Moed, begining of zeraaim, and Avot) is an eclectic edition based on the major mss w/ editorial notes. Worth consideration as a modern popular text replacement.
This week is unlikely, but perhaps next.
@IsqaDeQofaya@DavidRegev 's reservations notwithstanding, I might just throw in a line that "some say to take out X and Y" or "not all Gemaras have them, which might be better".
@jewishstudent1 I've think I've been in a few different communities, and I usually find it neccisary to ignore the majority who do or say thigns I don't want to associate with, and find a sane minority.
@jewishstudent1 I hope youre aware that youre generalizing quite broadly. I respectfully ask how much is based on inflamitory internet things? Might that impression differ if balanced by a company of intelligent people of a given ideology, comparable to what you may have found in your own world
@TannadebeRY @FieldSpeakerZDQ All this to say, I would advise against relying on the patterns of insertion of mishnayot to indicate anything about redaction of the bavli (or yerushalmi for that matter) itself.
@TannadebeRY @FieldSpeakerZDQ If you're referring to the sections marked מתני' etc rather than piskaot, I think those are all the doing of medieval scribes and later printers, and the division varies significantly between manuscripts. Whole perek at a time is actually a common one.
@FieldSpeakerZDQ I generally try to avoid anything which requires claiming we know what the deal with the Pharisees actually was, but this actually seems reasonable enough (I might strike out "the")
