This is incredible work. I would never have believed this is legit except that this guy does have the gear, experience, and insane passion to actually make it so.
Awestruck kudos.
Immense planning and technical precision was required for this absolutely preposterous (but real) view: I captured my friend @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during a skydive.
This might be the first photo of it's kind in existence. See a video of this moment in the reply 👇
It's the 75th anniversary of The Chronicles of Narnia!
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was published on October 16th, 1950, and readers have been enchanted by C.S. Lewis's magical tales ever since.
Join us in celebrating 75 years of Narnia with the hashtag #NarniaDay!
@WallStreetMav Actually did that this week. 😆
Wife: Why are you leaving?
Me: Pump said "See cashier"
Wife: You're not going inside?
Me: Yeah, no. I'm not goin inside to see no cashier. Perfectly good pump across the street.
Wife: 🤨
Me: 🤨
Wife: Yeah, I wouldn't go inside either.
@BBMagaMom Wife likes her P365. Too small for my hands, but it is super easy to conceal and shoots very consistent.
Go to a range that rents a selection. Try a bunch and find something that feels solid for you.
@Rainmaker1973 This post is incorrect and misleading. First, the breed on the right is an Orpington, a dual-purpose (good for meat & eggs) hen first bred in England in the late 1800s. The others are layers, skinny but good for egg production. The hen on the left is likely molting but healthy 😆
@uncledoomer Not correct.
TVA had spent $2.7B but by 1984 the estimated completion cost had risen to $13.8B, an amount larger than TVA's cost for the entire grid at that time.
There was not enough demand in '84 to justify its completion and public opinion was against the project
@AdmiralBoreal I have no pony in this race, but this cooling tower was built in the 70s and abandoned in the 80s. Unmaintained, it was a liability.
re: TVA & fission power, they recently filed applications for as many as 4 small reactors at Clinch River
https://t.co/FMbbIP3m16
TVA has chosen plant builders Bechtel and Sargent Lundy to finish the detailed design of the BWRX-300 SMR design, which TVA plans to build at its Clinch River site. They will also partner with GE Hitachi, which owns the BWRX-300 design. Article link in reply.
The companies will also provide a detailed cost estimate and schedule for the deployment of the reactor, one or two years from now.
I had thought that the BWRX-300 was mostly designed, but its developers have not yet applied for a DCA (Design Certification Application) for their generic design to the NRC. (NRC DCA page linked in 2nd reply.)
Also, the article's reference to a "detailed site-specific design for the reactor" makes me nervous. I thought the whole idea of SMRs is that the reactor modules are identical. But it's starting to look more and more like the same old process that has been used for large reactors.
The (300 MW) definition of "SMRs" is rather arbitrary, and the truth is that 300 MW "SMRs" are not much different than large reactors. Smaller SMRs (say, 20 MW or less) are a more fundamental departure from the old appoach, with whole carbon copy reactor modules that are actually mass produced in a factory.
So, I have to ask. Will there be site specific designs for 20 MW reactors (like Last Energy's SMR)? Will there be site-specific design differences even for micro-reactors? I sure hope not. That really wasn't the idea.
@TedyhereMC Having recently gone thru the CCW process in CA twice, I can def see how this could happen. Reviewers have a lot of freedom and there aren't many standards or audits. Some approach it like a supermarket survey and others think they're conducting a criminal investigation
@BrandonDonkey2 Maybe?
Locally there are many smaller coffee shops popping up, each with their own character. Uni students seek out these shops for unique flavors and experiences. Many cater to remote workers.
Starbucks is stale.
