"Somebody at school had a New Musical Express and I thought, this is a silly name — The Beatles with an 'a', that's a stupid joke. Then I heard 'Please Please Me' once and I was hooked, like everybody else. The Beatles were something everyone had in common. It was good in that respect — it unified people.
"[In the Soft Boys], Morris and Andy inclined to The Beach Boys and Steely Dan; Andy, Kimberley and I were big into Fairport, Richard Thompson, and The Albion Band; while I was magnetized by Syd Barrett and Captain Beefheart. But we all loved the Beatles. That's the great thing about the Fabs. All those different sluices melt into one canal and the Beatles is the universal.
"The music was diabolically beautiful. To this day, I parade between 1965 and 1968 just with my guitar trying to work out new Beatle chords, and all my musician friends do the same thing. If it was designed, if it was put there by a higher power or something from another planet, or the CIA, I could believe any of it.
"You grow up with that stuff and you take it for granted; you assume this is always going to be there. But actually no, it turns out to be a genuine golden age. And as we get older and further away from it, it gets goldener . . . "

Very into this collab between homeware brand Made and iconic Brutalist complex the Barbican in the London
For me it’s more of a MCM meets the 80s vibe but loving the designs either way
Boy George announcing thar he's leaving Twitter forever only to come back 5 days later with a white reggae pro-Israel song written by AI is like being thrown out of a restaurant for being drunk & then storming back in shouting "AND ANOTHER THING..." and then shitting your pants
The scariest part is once the physical copy is gone, whoever controls the AI controls history. They can rewrite the past and nobody will ever have the receipts to prove them wrong
"My god, when Paul sits down and he’s writing 'Get Back' [in Peter Jackson's 9-hour 2021 documentary Get Back] and George and Ringo are just sitting there across from him listening and Ringo starts clapping his hands to the beat, [I'm] just thinking: how are we seeing this?! This is the first time these guys are hearing this! They don’t know what this song is going to be. It’s magical. I couldn’t get over that. I wanted nine more hours.
"I will talk about the Beatles forever, once that subject comes up. Because they have that thing that you can’t define. It’s something otherworldly. It’s why if you play the Beatles for kids now, they cotton on to them. There’s just — it’s hitting all of us on some kind of level that is something else.
"I don’t know what that is, but . . . it’s divine. They’re the greatest band that has ever existed, they’re the greatest band that ever will exist. They’re like Shakespeare; they’re like Bach. Every several hundred years somebody or something comes along that redefines that kind of beauty, and I think the Beatles are that. They are for me."
