Today I turn 88…I’ve seen some serious shit. The most serious of it all is love. I love my family, my friends, and my wonderful fans. The power of love remains.
Back in 2021 I interviewed at Vercel and I failed badly.
I couldn’t implement a debounce function and was stuck for like 30 minutes. It was pretty embarrassing.
10 months later (2022) I interviewed again and got the job.
Don’t give up!
A programmer and a software engineer aren’t the same.
I’ve known many people who made a living writing code, but they were always a cog in a larger process they never understood.
Frontier models can do that job today. 1000x better.
Software engineers can write code, but they always understood code was a means to an end.
Software engineering is alive and well.
