A healthy relationship will test you more than a toxic one. Because it won't let you run. It holds up a mirror and says: Show up. Communicate. Grow. Swallow the pride. It's a repeated choice to stay and work at it together. Even when it's hard and ugly. That's why real love scares people so much in this generation.
my therapist changed my life when he taught me there are 4 types of conversation:
1) small talk (weather, etc)
2) swapping (you tell a story, I tell a story)
3) listening (you tell a story, I listen/validate)
4) problem-solving (you tell me a story, I help solve the problem)
Be so naturally good. Be so fucking competent. Be so exceptional in every domain of human performance that people have no option than to admire you, envy you or be magnetically attracted to you.
I read it somewhere “we romanticised the wrong organ, the stomach is more emotional than the heart” and it feels so true. we feel butterflies in our stomach and when we’re sad we lose our appetite. our stomach gets affected by emotions way more than we realise.
The bed might be warm,
The sleep might be sweet,
The dream might have been entertaining,
But your higher purpose is calling.
Get up,
Get out,
Go pursue your purpose.
None will do it for you.
It is you vs yourself.
One thing I'll tell girls younger than I am is to be patient, ndio nimeanza kushika my kidogo chumz juzijuzi and life has gotten really really nice (and will continue to get better) bc I feel like I actually belong in those rooms I get into...ni thao but ni yangu, come on💁🏽♀️
I'm a big fan of the "GPS Theory" when you miss a turn, your GPS doesn't judge you, it recalculates. No matter how many detours you take, it finds another way forward. Life works like that too. You'll make mistakes, but your destination doesn't vanish. The route just changes.
Do you ever get exhausted by food? Not the food itself, just the endless cycle of deciding what to eat, shopping for it, cooking it, and having to do it all over again every single freaking day.
turns out, reading voraciously, moving your body, loving people without keeping score, protecting your solitude, chasing nothing but your own growth, and occasionally staying out too late with people who make you laugh until it hurts is not a bad way to build a life.
heard a girl say that when she feels stuck, she imagines herself at 85yrs old & gets a chance to come back to her younger body for a day. suddenly, everything feels like magic again. the walk, the coffee, the music, the sunlight. live like today is the miracle it actually is!!!
