During WWII the Americans used artificial intelligence to analyze the most frequently damaged parts of airplanes. The navy added armor to these parts of the planes to better protect them. It was an early win for AI and data analytics.
New @naturesustainab paper quantifies a social cost of US #wildfires: smoke exposure reduces test scores. (Fixed-effects regression models controlled for confounds like temp & precipitation). From @jeffliwen & @MarshallBBurke@StanfordECHOLab: https://t.co/AmHp65WplK
‘It’s not just a molecule or an enzyme. It’s a function we’re after.’ Two-time Nobel Laureate K. Barry Sharpless discusses the applications of the phosphorus fluoride exchange reaction in #clickchemistry https://t.co/hOHJYk2sWo
Welcome to another awesome pair of issues from @JOC_OL! This time in #JOrgChem we feature a cool cover of a “blueprint” for synthesizing complex lactones https://t.co/VIY2KDssD2. Meanwhile in #OrgLett we present a unique dihomohalogenation methodology https://t.co/5rx7g3iQY2 😃
Application of strain release in traditional veterinary medicine:
...external wounds of cows are packed with crystalline iodine. Application of turpentine (rich in pinene) leads to exothermic eruption. It vaporizes iodine, allowing it to penetrate inaccessible areas of the wound.
Incorporating banana peel flour into sugar cookie batter makes the treats more healthful. In taste tests, cookies enriched with some of the flour were more satisfying than those baked with wheat flour alone. @JAgFoodChem. https://t.co/0JKXvSiLUZ

There is apparently a covalent nitrogen–oxygen–sulfur (NOS) bridge in the Main Protease of COVID!
Let's just pretend that's why the 1000 papers a day on docking of approved drugs in early 2020 got the modeling wrong :)
