In our mosque earlier today, the imam said that we should pray for Nigeria, that only prayers can salvage this nation.
One person at the last row stood up & said “the Saudi that we go for hajj & enjoy basic amenities there, they didn’t achieve that by prayers. They achieve that by competent leadership.”
😊😊😊

Dear Zuha,
I know you are inquisitive about how our religious days fit into the modern world. It is a brilliant question. I will be breaking this down for you so you can clearly see that Islam is not a copycat. It is a complete system with its own deep, independent roots.
Firstly, you asked: if the Gregorian calendar is not real, why do Muslims pray on Friday, and is there a different Friday in the Islamic calendar?
To help you and others understand, we have to go back to history.
Pope Gregory was the one who introduced the Gregorian calendar, and he introduced it in 1582. However, when you look at Islamic history, you will see that Muslims had been observing Jumu'ah for nearly a thousand years before that Pope was even born. If you open classical books of Islamic history such as the Seerah of Ibn Hisham or The Sealed Nectar, the physical proof is right there.
These books documented the very first Jumu'ah prayer held by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in 622 CE. It took place in the valley of Ranuna during his migration from Mecca to Medina. In that same era, Allah revealed an entire chapter in the Quran called Surah Al-Jumu'ah, where He commanded the believers to leave their worldly trades and gather. This proves Yawm al-Jumu'ah was a lived reality in the 7th century, over 900 years before the Gregorian calendar existed in Rome.
Now, you might wonder how this connects to the Friday we know today. Frankly, the seven day weekly loop is an entirely different system from how we count solar or lunar months. It is an ancient, unbroken mathematical cycle. You do not even have to take my word for it. Non Muslim historians and sociologists agree on this.
For instance, Eviatar Zerubavel in his book The Seven Day Circle confirmed that this weekly cycle has remained completely unbroken for thousands of years across different empires. The day the Western world decided to call Friday aligns seamlessly with the sixth day of that ancient cycle.
In Arabic, the days are just numbered. Sunday is Day One. Monday is Day Two. The sixth day is Yawm al-Jumu'ah, the Day of Gathering. This means we do not pray on this day to honor a Roman calendar. That is, it was just a coincidental relationship. We pray on it because Allah established it on a divine timeline.
Secondly, you asked: why is Friday night considered so blessed, and what are you missing here?
To understand this, we have to look at the foundations of human existence. Friday goes more than just the end of the work week. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that Friday is the day Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was created, the day he entered Paradise, the day he was sent to earth, and the day the world will end.
This is why the Prophet had a very profound routine. Every Friday during the early morning Fajr prayer, he would recite Surah As-Sajdah and Surah Al-Insan. He did this deliberately. These two chapters detail the creation of the universe, the biological creation of man, and the intense realities of the Day of Judgment. Praying these chapters every Friday morning is a divine reset. It reminds you of your origin and your final destination, both of which are tied to this specific day.
Because Friday carries the heavy weight of the end of times, reciting Surah Al-Kahf is your spiritual shield. The Surah contains stories about the ultimate trials of wealth, power, and faith. Reading it provides a divine light that protects your heart from the materialistic noise of the world and the deception of the Dajjal until the next Jumu'ah.
So by this fact, you are not missing anything. You just need to see that we are not following a Gregorian Friday. We are following a divine timeline. Don’t fret.
Allah knows best.
Shame on you, Riley, if you still have any sense of shame. Less than two weeks ago, numerous people lost their lives in multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri. Yet, you stayed silent, perhaps because most of the victims were Muslims.
Your efforts to destabilize Nigeria will not succeed. You are a group of heartless individuals who show no regard for human lives, despite claiming to be the most civilized. Instead, you spread hatred and sow division under the guise of democracy.
Invest radically in Education. Vocational centers. Hospitals. Potable water. Revive industries. More than half of your problems in the North will vanish.
All these come with a purposeful leadership. The one that is characterized by selflessness and foresight.
In this world, if you are not able to walk away from money, then you are in trouble. Materialism has put a lot of people into disrepute. They have lost their integrity and honor. We should be able to walk away from any money that if given to us will sell us and the future of our kids.
So many hatred towards islam worldwide, but still more people embrace islam by the day, than any other “religion”.
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam ☪️
𝐈𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟑, 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐡 𝐉𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦 )رحمه الله) 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲.
He highlighted a reality many Muslims recognize, in Nigeria and around the world: we are often pushed into a constant state of defense. Accusations come one after another:
“Islam doesn’t give women rights.” “Islam is extreme.” “Islam is harsh.” And so we respond. We explain. We clarify. We defend.
But he warned that remaining perpetually on the defensive distracts us from a greater responsibility; to confidently and wisely invite others to Islam.
Islam is not defined merely as “peace,” as it is often reduced to in modern discourse. The word Islam means total submission to the will of Allah ﷻ; a complete and conscious surrender of one’s desires, actions, and life to the Creator. To say “I am Muslim” is to say: I submit fully to Allah. I do what He commands and refrain from what He forbids.
Sheikh Jafar (رحمه الله) also challenged a common narrative: the portrayal of Islam as inherently aggressive. He pointed to history — particularly the battles of Badr and Uhud — emphasizing that the early Muslim community faced persecution, expulsion, and armed pursuit. The Prophet ﷺ & his companions were forced from Makkah, migrated seeking peace, and were pursued to the outskirts of Madinah. The Battle of Badr itself took place near Madinah after hostile forces advanced toward them. His broader point was about perspective: history is often told by those who control the narrative. Yet global history is filled with devastating wars, colonization, and mass civilian casualties carried out by powerful nations — from Hiroshima and Nagasaki to Algeria, Iraq, Gaza & beyond, the Christian West has killed tens of millions of innocent Muslims, either during colonization or modern day imperialism. Still, Islam is frequently singled out as uniquely violent.
Whether one agrees with every framing or not, his message was clear: Muslims should not internalize narratives that constantly place them on trial. Instead, they should understand their faith deeply, represent it with integrity, and engage the world with confidence, knowledge, and wisdom. Nearly two decades later, his words still provoke reflection.
May Allah have mercy on him and grant us clarity, balance, and steadfastness.
You have two options:
1- offer your maghreb with them and when he stands for his 4th, you wait in the sitting position and conclude your prayer with him
2- you sit in the 3rd and finish your prayer quickly and then stand up to try and catch him in his 4th which is your 1st of isha and then complete the remaining 3 after his salam
PRAYER TIMES NIGERIA ( PRAYER TIMES APP) BY SIMWAL JIBRIL
We are proud to announce the launch of Nigeria’s first indigenous prayer app based on the Maliki school of thought — built specifically for Muslims across the country.
Designed with precision and authenticity, this app provides accurate prayer times for all the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria, calculated according to the Maliki fiqh. Whether you are in Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, or any remote town, you can rely on correct timings tailored to your exact location.
Even without internet access, the app continues to function seamlessly with its offline prayer time calculation feature, ensuring you never miss your salah wherever you are. With smart location detection, it automatically identifies your position and delivers precise prayer times instantly.
Importantly, the Hijri date in the app is not fixed. It is designed to be adjustable to align with the officially declared date following the sighting of the new crescent and the announcement of the Sultan, ensuring conformity with recognized religious authority in Nigeria.
This milestone would not have been possible without the expertise and dedication of Orygin Solutions @oryginOS , who partnered in developing and bringing this vision to life. Their technical excellence and commitment to innovation helped make this app a reality.
This is more than just a prayer time app — it is a locally built solution for Nigerian Muslims, rooted in our jurisprudential tradition and powered by reliable technology.

What is a “Marine Spread”?
It’s NOT one vessel.
It’s the entire offshore setup mobilized for a job:
• Main vessel
• Support vessels (AHTS, PSV)
• Crew boats
• Anchors & mooring
• Offshore personnel
When you see:
“Marine spread rate: $XXX/day”
That’s the cost of the complete offshore spread; not just one boat.
Clarity in terminology = better technical & commercial decisions.
Next: Marine Spread vs Rig Spread.

There is a cant-afford-to-miss reward when you pray Taraweeh behind an Imam from the beginning to the end.
So, unless necessary, don’t bail out before the completion, even if you have intentions of waking up later to pray more.
May Allah ﷻ accept our Ibadāt, Āmin🤲
RAMADAN CRESCENT SIGHTING UPDATE!
Assalamu alaikum,
His Eminence has confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan crescent in Nigeria and has declared that tomorrow, February 18th, will mark the beginning of Ramadan 1447.
The Sultanate received reports of Ramadan crescent sightings from three different locations within Nigeria, and these claims were confirmed by the authorities in the respective areas where the sightings were reported. His Eminence is currently abroad, and an official announcement will soon be made by the Shehu of Borno, who is the deputy president general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Ramadan mubarak 🌙
He who has his heart attached to this world has three things attached to it;
Unremitting sadness
Unfulfilled desires
Unachievable hopes
We need to start detaching ourselves from the things of this world that are standing as obstacles to our obedience to Allaah.
