I’m not sure why I paused on this clip when it appeared on my timeline.

I don’t even know the name of the dance form (apparently it’s from Saurashtra) but it shows a grandfather teaching his grandson the steps.

Yes, the dance itself is wonderful. Full of energy, joy and life. The kind that makes you want to join in.

But what really drew me in was what this clip symbolised: the passing on of tradition, rhythm and memory from one generation to the next.

In today’s uncertain world, I found that strangely comforting. That not everything around you will change.

It was a reassurance of continuity.

દરેક ‘સાચા ભારતીય’ને રાહુલ ગાંધીના આ ખુલાસા પર ચિંતા થવી જોઈએ. જ્યારે વિશ્વના સૌથી મોટા લોકતંત્રની આત્મા પર જ સવાલ ઉઠે ત્યારે એ ગંભીર તો છે જ. અહીં આંકડાઓ અને પુરાવા સાથે દાવા કરાયા છે ત્યારે સવાલોના ઘેરામાં આવેલ ચૂંટણી પંચની જવાબદારી બની જાય છે કે એ જવાબ આપે, ખુલાસા કરે. માત્ર ચૂંટણીઓ યોજવી જ લોકતંત્ર નથી પણ એ તટસ્થ અને પારદર્શી રીતે, કોઈ ગોટાળા વગર થાય એ જરૂરી છે. બિહારમાં SIRમાં ગોટાળા, મહારાષ્ટ્રમાં વોટિંગમાં ગોલમાલ, 4 વર્ષમાં ન વધ્યા હોય એના કરતા પણ અનેક ગણા 4 મહિનામાં વધી ગયેલા વોટર આ બધા સવાલોના જવાબ મળવા જોઈએ. We are not a banana republic and we hope we don’t transform into one.
