Men will literally look at a woman who is a mechanical engineer and an astronaut who has been in space longer than the other 3 male crew members COMBINED and is one of 4 people to be as far from earth as she has…then comment on what she looks like.
Carroll, now a bright spot on our Moon, because four people, who traveled farther from Earth than any human in the 4.5-billion-year history of Earth has ever been, loved someone so much, they carried her the whole way there.
For those asking about why we keep seeing the Artemis 2 crew working out even though it's a 10 day mission. Astronauts exercise two hours every day in space. Within hours of entering microgravity your fluids stop pooling in your legs and shift toward your head. Puffy face, stuffy nose, legs shrinking. Your body interprets this as having too much blood and starts reducing volume within the first day or two.
By the end of week one your muscles and bones have started breaking down because gravity is gone and your body sees no reason to maintain tissue it isn't using. The bones that spent your entire life resisting gravity simply stop being loaded and begin to deteriorate at rates comparable to osteoporosis.
🌍 That crescent is Earth from 370,000 km away.
Every mountain. Every ocean. Every person who has ever lived reduced to a sliver of light small enough to disappear behind a spacecraft window frame.
In a few hours these four people will be farther from that crescent than any human in history. The Moon will fill their windows instead.
The last crew to see Earth shrink like this was Apollo 17. December 1972.
53 years of that view belonging only to photographs. Today it belongs to human eyes again..!
