https://t.co/2tOW7sfbr6 Two main discoveries that interested in me with this project were the amount of variants that can have an effect on diabetes, as well as the amount of symptoms that are related to diabetes. #prescottgenomics
@mrm1098@LillyLucy99 I agree, I feel that there could maybe be a few other justified scenarios that don't necessarily fall into these categories where testing may be warranted.
@NoemiG125 Were there any other specific diseases in the past that led to genetic discrimination in this way? Or was Sickle Cell Anemia the only mandatory screening for African Americans?
@NoemiG125 Hey Noemi, my favorite part was just seeing the side by side comparisons of all the countries and the small changes that their policies have, I find it really interesting!
This article from NCBI shows the international policies of 10 countries regarding the disclosure of personal genetic information. It is very interesting to see the small differences in policy with these countries! https://t.co/WPHujALsbH #prescottgenomics
A gene variant has been found to link to various developmental, language and motor delays, and many other genetic neurodevelopmental disabilities. #prescottgenomics

https://t.co/exGMI7lKOV the main takeaway from this research is that Type 2 Diabetes is manageable if the proper steps are taken to become healthy. One main finding was that Diabetes is not a permanent condition with proper intervention. #prescottgenomics
@TaylorLUNHM It is fascinating how many variants there are for these types of things. Having access to a database filled with so many recorded variants is a very good resource to have access to when further studying specific diseases.
This really interesting statistic, as well as many others, is an example of some of the data that @23andMe provides, and it is super cool that they can supply information that typically wouldn't be something that people think could be told by a genetics test.
@23andMe shows many cool traits about yourself that you wouldn't expect to see when you get your genetics tested. In this image, 23andMe shows the results of a test regarding muscle composition! #prescottgenomics
Precision medicine is the future of quality care, and being able to get closer to treating people individually with the help of genetic testing is extremely important. Further identifying types of cancer and learning more from research is the way to go! #prescottgenomics
A company that I found was @BGI_Genomics, who sequence whole genomes, screen for diseases, and do non-invasive prenatal testing. They do multiple different kinds of genome sequencing and provide a wide range of testing options. #prescottgenomics
