When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.
#Peace is not something we must invent: it is something we must embrace by accepting our neighbor as a brother or sister. We do not choose our brothers and sisters: we must simply accept one another! We are one family, inhabiting the same home: this wonderful planet that ancient cultures have cared for over millennia. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon
The future belongs to men and women of peace. Justice will always triumph over injustice in the end, just as violence will never have the last word, despite all appearances. #ApostolicJourney#Algeria https://t.co/Jp7UTUWUzj
This mob-like threat is appallingly un-American—abhorrent authoritarianism. On our 250th anniversary as a free people, let’s remember one of the reasons for our revolution was religious liberty. https://t.co/m6Zj0DCXXP
Death is always lurking. We see it in violence, in the wounds of the world, in the cry of pain that rises from every corner because of the abuses that crush the weakest among us, because of the idolatry of profit that plunders the earth’s resources, because of the violence of war that kills and destroys. #Easter
Mr. President: I have a better idea. Instead of spending over a trillion dollars on never-ending wars abroad while plunging the working class into poverty here at home, let’s invest in universal childcare, Medicare for All and affordable housing.
America first!
We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.
In recent weeks, US-born Pope Leo has emerged as a sharp critic of the Iran war. He named Trump, for the first time publicly, in a direct appeal urging the president to end the expanding conflict https://t.co/GBHehnB4mE
Pete Hegseth sent U.S. troops to fight and die in Iran. Was he trying to cash in on the war behind closed doors?
This would be a massive betrayal.
I’m pressing for a full investigation NOW.
🚨Trump today:
“We can’t take care of daycare. We’re a big country. We’re fighting wars. It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.”
The United States has spent:
$21 billion on the Iran war in 30 days.
$100 million on Trump’s golf tab this term.
$200 billion requested for Pentagon weapons.
$8 trillion on wars since September 11th.
But daycare is not possible.
Medicare is not possible.
Medicaid — which covers 72 million Americans including children, seniors, and people with disabilities — is not possible.
For the first time in over 50 years, humans are Moonbound.
At 6:35 p.m. EDT (2235 UTC) NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft lifted off from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, sending four astronauts on a planned test flight around the Moon and back. https://t.co/0Q9ZB4IWVI
We have been told many times that there won’t be boots on the ground. Many (almost all) of the pro war accounts here have given breezy assurances that there won’t be boots on the ground. If we do end up with boots on the ground, prepare yourself for the most shameless gaslighting campaign we’ve ever witnessed, as all of the same voices insist that no such assurances were ever given, and in fact we always knew there would be boots on the ground and were never told anything different.
UN Headquarters in New York City went dark in support of Earth Hour on Saturday.
Around the globe, millions of people, businesses and landmarks set aside an hour to switch off their lights and call for greater efforts to protect our planet and shared future.
As the US is dragged into another foreign war, it's worth knowing about the man who forced us into it. Watch the film so revealing that it's banned in Israel. The Bibi Files streaming now on TCN.
We had a 100-0 bipartisan deal in the Senate and the House blew it up because the Republicans who run Congress apparently don’t talk to each other and prefer chaos.
