Day 1 of #COP30 in Belém 🇧🇷

The Green Generation Initiative (GGI) team kicked off our engagements on a high note, with our Founder & CEO @lizwathuti delivering a keynote during the inauguration of the COP30 Water for Climate Pavilion.

Day 2 at #COP30, also marked as Africa Day, saw the Green Generation Initiative (GGI) team proudly representing Africa with the Outfits, while continuing engagements here at Belem Brazil

Our Founder & CEO, @lizwathuti , spoke on a panel on “Harnessing Blue, Green, and Atmospheric Water for Integrated Global Water Governance.”

She emphasized that water governance must stand at the center of global climate action not as a side issue, but as a pillar for achieving adaptation and resilience.

The (GGI) team will continue with these engagements throughout COP30, building partnerships and advancing youth-led climate solutions.

Day 3 at #COP30 in Belém.

The Green Generation Initiative (GGI) continues to keep the momentum going as our CEO @lizwathuti joined the AFCEN AI for Investment panel, organised by AFCEN under the leaders of Joseph Ng’ang’a highlighting how AI can drive inclusive, Africa-led solutions by empowering youth and women in agriculture.

Our Africa Youth Programs Lead, @_SamMue spoke on Bridging the Green Skills Gap, sharing how our @NextGreenLeader Accelerator is helping young innovators scale their climate solutions.

The team also connected with PS Dr. @Eng_F_Ngeno , Principal Secretary for @EnviClimateC_Ke , at the Africa Pavilion.

We continue to build meaningful partnerships, and collaborations while sharing insights, and championing youth-led climate action as #COP30 unfolds.

We are immensely proud of the dedication and impactful work our team carried out from hosting insightful events to participating in critical conversations at #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿.

These efforts forged new connections, sustained meaningful partnerships, showcased the incredible power of youth leadership, and enabled us to interact with world leaders, and inspiring young climate leaders and environmental champions from around the world.

While global leaders’ decisions at COP29 fell short of our aspirations, they serve as a stark reminder of the work still to be done. The question remains: how do we, as young people, continue to influence these spaces while driving real change on the ground?

For us, the answer is clear—we remain steadfast in our commitment to action, advocacy, and building a truly sustainable future. For the journey ahead, we are now fueled by the collaborations and momentum we’ve gained. Together, we are already paving the way for the future we want! 🌱✨

At COP29, the Green Generation Initiative, led by founder @lizwathuti convened a closed-door roundtable with The Scottish Government’s @ScotGovNetZero, Acting Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero and Energy, @GillianMSP.

Discussions focused on enhancing finance access for youth-led climate solutions and ensuring young people’s inclusion in the loss and damage fund—a pioneering effort by Scotland as the first developed nation to pledge such funding.

Young African climate leaders shared their experiences and presented key recommendations for COP29 and future climate financing especially for the youth.​​
