Hydroelectric power plants are the most unheralded facilities in MI’s electric generation fleet; however, the state’s system of hydroelectric dams provide significant recreational & economic value to MI communities.
Please be safe out there. ALWAYS assume a downed power line is live. Stay at least 20 feet away. Don't touch anything it comes in contact with. Until you're sure there are no downed lines around you, delay cleanup of downed branches, because power lines can blend in with them.
If you have tree branches down from the ice storm in your yard or in the street, wait to clean them up! There are lots of power lines down right now, and there’s a chance they might be electrified if they’re touching a wire. Stay inside and stay safe!
