@cherryaire@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat Most of my patients just tell me “do whatever you have to do” when I mention that we need samples. The trust for HCWs in America seems very thin and so upsetting.
@cherryaire@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat What is “the usual battery of tests”? So contradicting. The anger I have seen towards hcw in this thread is astounding! I have a feeling this must be an American view. Pts don’t pay for the tests in aus, and I don’t get paid for carrying out the tests. 1/2
@EchoesOfMoods@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat You’re repeatedly writing that my patient care is inadequate and insinuating that I’m an asshole. I don’t feel guilty. I wish people wouldn’t demonise HCW . This seems to be more of an American culture? have not heard as many people think this in aus
@Fedup88881 @ChronicGQueen @NieraWebster97 @BathysphereHat I never said you were stupid! I’m from Australia, so the culture around healthcare is a lot different from my understanding. I’d suggest asking what tests they are running when you give samples! Best way if you want to know exactly what’s happening
@EchoesOfMoods@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat And I’m sorry for whatever interaction caused you to feel like that, but that doesn’t mean I am a horrible person because the ED is a busy place and I don’t have time to explain minute details while I’m trying to help you. Don’t demonise people
@EchoesOfMoods@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat Would love to know the ED you worked in where that was possible. I explain the broad idea of what we are testing for, but I physically can not sit down and explain every single electrolyte and why. This is obviously a sensitive topic for you 1/2
@EchoesOfMoods@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat I don’t know who said I’m an asshole to patients? “Your blood levels or whatever” is sufficient ? I thought the argument was to know exactly what we are testing for and why. Sometimes I’m taking blood for 30+ tests. I cannot explain all of those in an Ed
@NeilRathberg @pnwL0ver @ESRDWarrior @BathysphereHat I usually just say we’re going to test it. If you want me to explain every single test that is ordered for your blood and urine so you can consent to each one I would have no time to do anything else.
@Fedup88881 @ChronicGQueen @NieraWebster97 @BathysphereHat It’s standard. If we are going to give you medications that affect feral growth and you happen to be pregnant that’s a pretty important thing to know. Or if you come in with abdo pain that could be pregnancy related, it’s important to know
@valjotto@RNSuperHero That’s not supposed to be making it the pt fault - but sometimes they might just need to hydrate a little and try again. It helps!
@TulsaRose21@beercatphd How can you in one breath say that not having an abortion caused you immense trauma and made your life not worth living where you never had a chance, and then say that everyone should have to endure that. You had a choice, everyone should be granted the same.
@meganranney Here in Australia - we ran out of giving sets to fit out iv pumps for a while there and had to use gravity sets for all our fluids and meds. I was telling all my pts I felt like Florence nightingale. Ran out of 10ml syringes
Ran out of fleet enemas lol
@secondchances09 @theregoesyours @ErikaHamilton9 @TheCanuckMD @kari_jerge My impression was that she told her NIC who told her not to worry about t putting in an imms immediately?
