The fact that one of the transphobes favorite lines is “trans wasn’t a thing until 5 years ago” should REALLY indicate to people what is going on.

Not only have I personally been out over 15 years, but I also know so many trans people in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

They have always used the spaces consistent with their transitioned sex.

The fact that these people getting swept up in the trans panic spent all those years not realizing that trans people were using toilets, playing sports (trans women have been allowed to compete in the Olympics for over a decade) and otherwise just existing.

But SUDDENLY we are an existential threat to women, children and society.

They say it’s because we “over reached”. We didn’t. We were already doing all the things that are now being restricted and legislated against.

The ONLY thing that has changed is that people are more aware of us. That’s it. That’s all. We are no longer hiding in the shadows. More of us feel safe enough to not hide away.

And THAT terrorifies them.

They say they aren’t “afraid of trans people”. So then why are you suddenly exaggerating statistics and using disingenuous arguments? If you actually didn’t fear trans people then you would realize that nothing has changed from what you already knew and experienced. You were just unaware. And you were unaware because trans people aren’t a threat.

But. It’s easier to believe that a group of people you don’t understand and have no interest in understanding are threats. Because you don’t actually know anything about us. And it is becoming quite plain that many rejoice in violence against trans people.

It is hate. It is fear. It is ignorance. And it is bullshit.

You can tell us “I’m not afraid of you” all you want. But the reality is you are showing us exactly how afraid of us you are.

Trans women however are feeling a lot less safe. Gender non conforming non trans women are feeling less safe as well..

Not because of the law, but because they know who it emboldens..
