The University of Nairobi was pleased to host Germany's Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Sebastian Groth, for discussions on strengthening academic cooperation and expanding opportunities for students, researchers and educators.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms. Kerstin Kriffmann of the German Embassy, Dr. Dorothea Weyler, Director of the DAAD Regional Office Nairobi, and Dr. Eliza Panagiotatou, DAAD Lecturer at the University of Nairobi.
The engagement focused on plans to remodel the Master of Arts in German programme, reinforcing the University's position as Kenya's only institution offering Master's-level training in German Studies. Discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration in research, innovation, capacity building and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The meeting further highlighted the enduring partnership between the University of Nairobi and Germany through DAAD, Erasmus and Erasmus+ programmes, research collaborations and academic exchanges.
As higher education institutions adapt to evolving workforce needs and global challenges, partnerships such as these continue to play an important role in developing talent, advancing knowledge and creating opportunities that extend beyond national borders.
The University of Nairobi is now ranked in the TOP 7% of universities on the planet by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR), placing 1,371st in research and 1,596th in graduate employability worldwide. The recognition reflects the caliber of UoN's scholars and the competitiveness of its graduates on the global stage.
This achievement reaffirms UoN's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and service to society. #WeareUoN

The real Eagle will land tomorrow - but for today, here's a brief tour of Maseno School conducted by our Year 2000 School Captain, Jared Buoga 4B Owen House.
All the six JamboJet flights to Kisumu today are already fully booked.
When you're big, you're big.
Some of you will never understand why Maseno School means the world to us.
When I tell you my mother has the best handwriting in the world, today I open my file for incontrovertible proof.
Maseno is celebrating 120 Years and we will be there no matter what.
The Citizen TV news reporter today begun the Maseno School story with the panoramic view of Mabungo Hills. Bwana should we tell them about Mabungo or we keep quiet?
Maseno School had an anthem long before Kenya became a country.
This is the tune that struck terror in the hearts of rival teams whenever our teams checked into the scene.
Those who missed Maseno by one point are also welcome to sing, only if they promise to obey the rules.
For 120 years, Maseno has been producing the type of students who read novels for fun, debate teachers for sport, and treat academic excellence like a birthright.
While other schools produce candidates that celebrate mean grades. Maseno produces Cabinet Secretaries, professors, judges, diplomats, blue chip CEOs, and those people who correct your English before disagreeing with you. The school assembly you see here sound like a United Nations symposium with hymn books.
Tomorrow, State House is simply making a courtesy call to the cradle of academic excellence. The President will not just be attending a celebration; he will be entering a 120-year-old institution that has quietly convinced millions of Kenyans that wearing that that navy-blue blazer automatically raises your IQ by 17 points.
If you’re coming to the celebrations tomorrow, kindly note that the Kisumu–Busia Highway will resemble an economic stimulus package on wheels. Traffic officers will be overwhelmed, Google Maps will start questioning life choices, and every third person will claim they “once studied near Maseno.”
Should you get lost in the maze while inside the school compound, all you need will be to blink twice and our Geography department will send someone to you with a map to Jacob's Well.

Kuria was a towering figure in the corporate world and chaired several boards of distinguished companies, including KWAL and Britam.
A gentleman par excellence, Kuria walked with the humility of experience blended with wisdom. A man of great repute, and mentor to many.
We have lost a great man.
