i live in the middle of nowhere rural Texas, they don't even use "mailmen" or "mail trucks" they contract it out, i'm not sure how that part works, but i would be fine with "roadside delivery" of junkmail once a week, better yet "opt out" and i'm pretty sure most of my neighbors don't check their boxes but about once a week anyway. as for packages, if i actually knew they were coming on tuesday for example, i could make arrangements to leave the gate leading to my long ass driveway open that day, but i'm not going to leave my gate open 6 days a week because they have a random schedule, so they drive all the way to my place to leave a note in the box by the road that they couldn't deliver a package that won't fit in my box, then i have to go all the way to the town a day or two later to pick it up at the post office anyway. it's sooooooo dumb! with fedex or UPS i at least know when they are coming due to a tracking number.
