A lot of Americans have no idea who Husayn ibn Ali is, but they should if they want to understand what’s happening in the Middle East right now.

Husayn ibn Ali was the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. In 680 CE, he refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid, the Umayyad ruler who had effectively transformed the early Islamic caliphate into hereditary dynastic rule. Husayn would not legitimize what he believed to be corrupt and unjust authority.

He traveled toward Kufa after receiving letters of support, but before any political uprising could materialize, he and a small band of family members and companions were surrounded and killed at the battle of Karbala.

For Shiʿa Muslims, this battle at Karbala is the moral axis of their theology. Husayn became their eternal symbol of resistance to tyranny, even when defeat is certain. His martyrdom represents the belief that justice may lose militarily but triumph spiritually and morally.

And this is not an abstract doctrine, it has practical & material implications. Husayn’s martyrdom is reenacted annually by Muslims during Ashura, their most important day of mourning. And it shapes the political consciousness of Shiʿa Muslims today.

Husayn’s memory has deeply influenced the Iranian Revolution since the beginning. Revolutionary leaders explicitly invoked Karbala, portraying resistance to foreign domination and domestic authoritarianism as a reenactment of Husayn’s stand against illegitimate power.

Iran is majority Shiʿa, and its political culture consciously draws on the symbolism of Karbala. When Iranian leaders frame confrontation with the United States as resistance to empire, they are invoking this narrative that justice requires sacrifice against overwhelming force.

And now, with the killing of Ali Khamenei, many inside Iran and across the Shiʿa world will inevitably interpret this event through that same lens.

In Shiʿa political theology, a leader killed by a powerful foreign adversary does not simply die, he becomes a martyr, a part of a sacred story of resistance.

And now Trump & the drunken buffoon Pete Hegseth have killed their spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for the same reason that Husayn ibn Ali was killed, standing up against unjust authority.

They thought they had toppled the Islamic Revolution, when in fact they have emboldened it & given it another spiritual-political martyr. They have unified Shia people all across the region against the forces of imperialism.

One must wonder if they took the time to learn this history before launching strikes on Iran, or if they were just blindly following whatever Bibi Netanyahu told them to do.

The General Medical Council (@gmcuk) has officially become an arm of the 'israeli' lobby, tasked with punishing British doctors who oppose the genocide in Gaza.

Exhibit A: Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta.

The British Palestinian surgeon who volunteered in Gaza, saving countless lives. The pro-'israel' lobby group UKLFI reported him 10 times to the GMC. After a two year investigation, the Medical Practitioners' Tribunal Service (@the_MPTS) rejected all misconduct allegations on 9 January.

Now, the GMC, acting for the lobby, is appealing to the High Court to overturn the tribunal's decision.

This is UKLFI's playbook. They are a malicious, charity status lobby that has:

· Lied to have artwork by Palestinian children in Gaza removed from a UK hospital.
· Provided legal support to those 'upset' by opposition to genocide.
· Asked the 'israeli' government for help when threatened by UK NGOs.
· Claimed the genocide may reduce obesity in Gaza.

And has harassed and terrorised hundreds of British doctors and healthcare workers.

Their mission in their own words is to:
'use the law to counter attempts to undermine, attack and delegitimise "israel", "israeli" organisations, "israelis", and supporters of "israel"'.

Don’t just tell half the story, Mr Streeting.

You have also allowed a situation where qualified doctors are effectively being replaced by cheaper ACPs who cannot provide the same level of care.

You have offended residents by making sure their pay as fully trained doctors is lower than that of people “playing doctor” some of whom are unregistered and unaccountable.

You have created a doctor bottleneck with fierce competition for training posts, leaving many doctors unemployed - while at the same time some nurses are being pulled from already short-staffed nursing rotas to cover doctor roles, which only worsens the staffing crisis on both sides.

If you want to explain the reasons behind these decisions, the public deserves to hear them too. If the goal is to reduce the number of doctors in the NHS and shift to a workforce mainly made up of ACPs, then be honest about it. That would inevitably create a two-tier healthcare system. But the knowledge will at least give the opportunity for the public to start saving for private healthcare fees or accepting they will not get good care if they are poor. And young British people can make informed decisions about whether to study medicine in the UK and, if they choose to, to be clear they need to plan to emigrate early - unless they have the rainbow unicorn level of luck currently needed to secure a specialist training post.

I am not sure how many future doctors will want to become consultants in ten years’ time if we end up with no residents, no staff grades, no associate specialists, and a system full of unregulated non-doctors taking on doctor roles while consultants bear the legal responsibility. I certainly won’t be part of that - and good luck to those who choose to be. The lawyers won’t go easy on you - I promise you that.

I welcome the news that the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has lost her appeal and failed to block the legal challenge to the proscription of Palestine Action.

The Judicial Review will now go ahead on 25-27 November, with two additional grounds to challenge the ban’s legality.

This is a huge win for civil liberties and our right to protest.

We must continue to defend our rights against Keir Starmer’s authoritarian Labour government.

This is what political persecution looks like in Britain.

This has nothing to do with medical standards. I have an unblemished record. No complaints. No errors.

This is about punishing a moral stance that challenges power—in this case, it is jewish supremacy.

The timeline exposes the conspiracy:

1. I win my @the_mpts hearing—25 September 2025.
2. A network of pro-'israel' lobby groups (UKLFI, CAA, JMA) mobilises.
3. Their funded MP, @wesstreeting, makes unfounded comments regarding my outcome and demands regulators bypass due process.
4. The GMC immediately capitulates, referring me for a second tribunal just TWELVE days later.

This is double jeopardy.

Their goal is not just my licence, but to establish a 'guilty until proven innocent' precedent for any British professional who dares to challenge their power. Who dares to challenge 'israel'.

They are executing this through a coordinated network of lobby groups:

· Lawyers for 'israel' (UKLFI): Their initial complaint triggered my first 9-month investigation, which concluded with no outcome in February 2025. They are now appealing that result and adding further material.
· Campaign Against 'Antisemitism' (CAA): Incessant complaints and threats of judicial review to the GMC.
· Jewish Medical Association (JMA), formerly the 'israel' Medical Association British Fellowship: Addendum added to previous complaints.

Their objective is clear: my suspension and the revocation of my licence—a punishment to restore jewish supremacy.

They cannot accept the verdict of my first hearing because it nullifies most of their vexatious complaints against hundreds, if not thousands, of British doctors, healthcare workers, and professionals.

The GMC is a willing partner, fast-tracking any complaint directly to the MPTS without scrutiny to drown me in paperwork.

The Evidence:

· My investigation officer is rubber-stamping everything.
· They tried to move my hearing to an impossibly early date (17 Oct).
· They have lodged OVER 2,000 PAGES, re-submitting the same bundle I already defeated.

Health Secretary @wesstreeting—who is funded by the same 'israel' lobby—is openly calling to bypass regulators, suspend doctors accused of 'anti-Semitism' (enacting a 'guilty until proven innocent' standard), and pass new legislation to make this persecution law.

This is not a hearing. It is a malicious, coordinated effort to break me procedurally and financially. More importantly, this is an assault on our British institutions, regulators, courts, and our freedom of speech and expression.

Let's be clear: A British regulator is being weaponised to suspend an NHS doctor to serve the political interests of hostile, foreign-aligned agents and organisations.

This is a warning to every British citizen: when a foreign lobby can pressure our regulators (@gmcuk) and a government minister (@wesstreeting) to target someone who has already been vindicated, our institutions are no longer our own.
