Japan's government tells you exactly why an oceanfront house on the Wakayama coast costs $69,000. There's an 80% chance of a magnitude 8 to 9 earthquake hitting the Nankai Trough in the next 30 years, and they publish that number every January.
The trough runs 800 kilometers along Japan's Pacific coast, directly past towns like Susami. It ruptures roughly once a century. The last one came in 1946.
When it goes, government modeling says the first tsunami waves reach the Wakayama shore in as little as 3 minutes. In 2011, Tohoku got about 30 minutes of warning. This coast gets three. You feel the shaking stop and you're already late.
The official worst-case projection is 231,000 deaths and $1.4 trillion in damage, revised and republished like a weather forecast.
So the market does something you almost never see in real estate. It prices a disaster that hasn't happened yet. Insurance premiums, evacuation tower construction, land values along the whole coastline, all of it moves off that 80% number.
The ocean view is real. The discount is the probability.
@JagsVibes@Brammflakes@MarsResident027 If vehicle is the goal then half of the round, every one will be sitting ducks in trucks and cars driving to zone. Not really playing in the zone since it takes years go from the base to the zone.
Poor decision with IR. Especially when only 10+ days are left with the season. Should have made not easily accessible through crates and only let true players who unlocked it. Don’t get influenced by whiny streamers. They ruin game for whole community. Lot of people play recon. Why have we not taken havoc or arty or GL away?
@caeruleuse@Brammflakes@MarsResident027 I’m not talking about various roles, since driving and flying are the means to enter the zone. Most efficient and fastest is flying. Unless you want everyone walking.
@WARDOGSUpdates What difference does it make between now and S2? People have spent time grinding it. Another streamer takes ruining the game for everyone.
The game will be challenging depending on how well a squad or team coordinates. We have observed Shroud’s performance with Helis and GL. That dynamic is inherent to the game, and solo play may feel difficult. However, the design favors squad play. A degree of balance is simply sufficient.
