tbh deposits are a dumb metric. real metrics...
- If you're an investor - ROE
- If you're an owner/operator - net income
- If you're a deposit customer - loans/deposit ratio
- If you're a lending customer - available liquidity and ACL
- If you're a VC who knows nothing about financial services - deposits
fwiw we're at $XXb+in deposits but it doesn't matter, doesn't have much of a correlation to good financial institutions.
ie: there are a dozen ways to juice this metric if I wanted to. I could log into a single deposit brokerage service and raise $10B of deposits to report on my balance sheet at the day I file for a call report (and there are a bunch of cute ways to make them not show up as brokered on your call report) ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Erebor reported raise at $9.5b on $4b+ in deposits
Column hasn't raised vc but rumored $6b val with $1.5b. But emphasis on other rev streams like payments, interchange
Will be interesting to see where Erebor and the other new banks go from here, what rev streams they lean into
imagine a card in your pocket that you fully program end to end
want to only accept transactions for exactly $420.69?
want to deny swipes if mercury is in retrograde?
want to prevent your agent from buying itself more tokens?
features that used to take years to build can be vibe-coded in a weekend on @column
things are about to get really fun
We built an issuer processor from scratch.
If you want to launch a program for every card type, with options like:

One integration with Column gives you BIN sponsorship, issuer processing, and capital
Column is adding USDC to its payments infrastructure.
Fintechs banking with @column can now access stablecoin payments alongside cards, wires, ACH, Swift, and RTP through a single API.

so proud of this team, and can't wait to share more!
We started @column with the insane idea to rebuild every component of the financial system from scratch. Today, I think we've finally completed that build.
We're releasing four new products, so any technology company can build at the frontier of financial services.
We congratulate Levent Alpรถge and Tristan Buckmaster on their remarkable mathematical work.
We (the researchers and the agents) did not see any of their work through any means until they released it publicly โ in particular, no specific user data was accessed in order to solve this problem.
While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models.
However, our proofs differ significantly and even the precise results proved are different in the Euler case (forced vs. unforced).
