@f_j_9337 The x-axis is not temporal. The line simply plots the ratios from 2011 to 2026 and only the few dates relevant to the conflict are called out. That’s why the most recent date is on the left. The graph confused me too initially.
@ExpectedValues It’s somewhat of an irony that Grantham’s ‘failure’ with bearish calls is due to central banks continually throwing money after and inflating already inflated assets & currency—i.e. the same reason many people find bitcoin alluring.
@calvinfroedge Annas said in interview that he thinks trump continues with the release even when with low prices because of his desire for $50. Maybe nobody shows up for it with a 20% phys. payback but is there anything preventing them from dropping to 10% or taking cash in lieu for ⬆️ buyers?
Also, while points one and two are reasonable and commensurate with China’s disproportionate impact upon demand; the points aren’t consistent with his $25 bbl or a permanently bearish henceforth posture. While setting a ceiling, they ostensibly set a floor for oil as well; if stocks are not replenished when prices are low then a ceiling made possible by drawing on massive reserves is not enforceable. Also, the coal switching is something that happens when there is an expectation of supply constraints or high prices.
I’m too lazy and admittedly no ‘macro expert’ but two things: Hand waving away Hormuz as nbd is self evidently stupid. That this may be the impetus for changing its magnitude of importance is another topic. Also, saying that price is the indicator of unvarnished truth puts him in the same camp as bitcoin maxis and everyone who has ever bought into a mania.
I've warned for months that a @JetBlue-@SpiritAirlines merger would have led to fewer flights and higher fares.
@JusticeATR and @USDOT were right to stand up for consumers and fight against runaway airline consolidation.
This is a Biden win for flyers! https://t.co/lJFGS3ucv3
Here’s Mayor Pete announcing the Biden administration’s decision to fight the Jet Blue and Spirit merger so they could protect consumers and ensure low fares. Now the airline doesn’t exist and passengers are stranded across the country.
@Connor38240@MacroEdgeRes It means blue barrel. It’s 55 gallons I think. The term started as a colloquialism that referred to the Standard Oil Company’s blue-colored barrels. Or something like that.
