@Docstockk @Docstockk I share your worry that the abortion ruling might be the wrong choice but not the conviction that it is. (I’m currently on the fence). I’ve read enough of your writing on other subjects to trust that you might be right and find the time to read your long thread.

@MForstater Wasn’t it also that, like many charities at the time, they were counting the number of interventions (eg. The number of times a kid walked through the door) rather than the number of individual kids they were helping?

@Jebadoo2 One of my first job interviews included being asked about possible strengths and weaknesses of the AIDS Don’t Die of Ignorance campaign. Lots of research and thinking went into the development of public information film making in 70s, 80s and 90s.

@Jebadoo2 Actually, worse than that, it’s the continuation of a misinformation campaign. Protesting that the Equalities Act is both clear and fair is like campaigning to Remain except the stakes are even higher because of the age demographics of the Remain voters!

I just want to re up this. For Women Scotland was a victory for gay rights because the lesbian intervenors stopped the protected characteristic of same sex orientation becoming "meaningless" and they protected our associations rights.

“We didn’t follow the law because we were waiting for guidance” will not save you from being sued - get on with adjusting your policies if necessary, make adjustments to service provision (again, if nec) and ensure you are compliant with the law.

This bit of #AssistedDying impact statement is extra dystopian. Those with learning disabilities could be unfairly kept out of assisted death as they struggle to understand relevant information. But don't worry! Reasonable adjustments will be made.
