“Do you think that getting married young has made you less ambitious?”
Welcome to the first episode of SOTA Wives with Sarah Chieng (Head of DevX at Cerebras, @MilksandMatcha) x Vivian Midha Shen (General Partner at Y Combinator, @vivianmshen).
In episode 1: finding your person before getting rich, turning down startup funding to finish MIT, what a YC partner sees in founders, and how a birthday post became “psychological violence.”

Coding over voice has become surprisingly productive for me. A significant portion of work has become steering agents and talking through their findings, and voice has become very effective for this.
I've been exploring using voice for steering coding sessions on my commutes at @sesame and I really like it.
Working with Opus/Sonnet 5.5 is at the point where I often find it useful to multitask over voice even while I'm at my desk.

Like all computing platforms, Sesame glasses will only be as good as the apps and services you can access through them. In particular, in today’s world, that includes other agents.
As agents get more capable, working with them will more and more be about intermittently unblocking them between long stretches of autonomous work. I’ve been surprised at how productive I can be over voice, whether it’s during my commute, while I’m taking a walk, or even just at my desk.
We liked this experience so much that we built sesame-link, so that we can connect to our favorite coding harnesses through our voice assistants (https://t.co/tuID6me6Sh).
Soon, we’ll open up developer tooling to let anyone build apps and integrations for our assistant, and eventually, our glasses.
We’re building all-day optical glasses that will be a bona fide computing device. Invisible, ambient computing, available at your fingertips, that fades away when you’re not using it. Our assistant is designed to be the logical operating system of that device — one that’s voice oriented and as intuitive as talking to a friend.
Frames you love to wear, with an assistant you enjoy talking to.
Voice assistants available to everyone today. Glasses coming 2027.
This release is a step towards our vision—a voice OS on the frames that can connect to your tools, act on your behalf, and help you throughout your day.

Getting the voice right is a key element of our product vision. When your assistant is with you all day, every day, it’s important that you enjoy talking to it. A natural, lifelike voice experience will be the most accessible user interface available. We’re developing and shipping this assistant now, on mobile, to make sure it’s as good as it can be when we launch our glasses.
Realtime conversation is its own modality that requires unique capabilities from voice models.
One such capability is “turn taking”: modeling when participants in a conversation decide to speak. To make progress, we needed high quality evals that cover a broader distribution of conversational scenarios.
We’ve open sourced TurnBench, an open benchmark that we hope can help the community continue to improve on this task.
To craft for conversation, timing is everything. Natural conversation is a social dance, and timing matters just as much as tone and delivery.
Most voice AI doesn't do this well yet.
So we built TurnBench: an open benchmark that measures whether voice AI knows when your turn is really over, and when an "mm-hmm" is agreement, not an interruption.
Learn more about how we built this on our blog.

Natural language, and in particular voice on glasses, will be a key interface for the future of personal computing. If you're excited about these ideas too, give our preview a try and reach out
Today we're announcing our @sesame iOS app preview, giving you a first look at our collection of personal agents, a new way to explore your curiosity and think out loud.
We’ve come a long way since the Research Preview from last year: new features, new characters, and better capabilities.

Voice is the next great interface shift.
We're partnering with @brendaniribe, @natemitchell, @_apkumar, @2rhb & the @Sesame team to bring computers to life, not just as tools, but as thought partners.
