OPINION:“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1.
Kenya had a Bill. The Bill had a bill and the bill was paid in insults. Yet the account is still open. That is not a riddle. That is a Tuesday morning in Kenya, where the President took to social media, addressed a media shareholder by name, called his newspaper’s journalism extortion and blackmail, and invited the institution to do its worst.

The EACC advisory on the branding of publicly funded projects is a welcome move and should be supported by all Kenyans who want public resources protected from personal political promotion.
For a long time, some public officers have treated government projects as personal billboards, putting their names, images and symbols on work funded by taxpayers, as if public money came from their own pockets.
Interior PS Raymond Omollo is one public officer whose repeated branding of public projects with his name should now attract serious attention from the EACC.
This habit of attaching personal names to public projects points to a worrying culture where some officials appear desperate for praise, visibility and political validation using resources that belong to Kenyans.
EACC should now move from advisory letters to firm action, beginning with public officers who have turned government projects into self-promotion platforms.
Omollo should be summoned to explain the branding linked to his name, and this should serve as a clear warning to other public officers who may be using public projects to build personal political images.
If EACC acts firmly and fairly, it will not only stop this misuse of public resources, but also restore public confidence that the Commission is ready to protect taxpayers from officials who confuse public service with personal advertising.
This is the right moment for EACC to come out as the defender of public resources and the institution willing to stop this growing abuse before it becomes normal.
Yesterday was a big success and now confirms 25th June will always be a holiday. Sometimes Kenyans should not jump, jump on the roads for maandamano to be successful.
