New #CSCW2021 paper by me and @kellycaine. Social Media Platforms use different identity policies, including real names, pseudonyms, and anonymity. We discuss the relationship between identity, user engagement, quality, and trolling on Q&A sites. Preprint: https://t.co/LAL7AVO9fu
I’m really proud of this work that PhD student @_chengguo presented at #USEC2025 this week.
We found that the people choose anonymity for highly sensitive topics and using a throwaway account doesn’t increase workload for human moderators.

Qualitative researchers: what are common critiques/questions you get in reviews? I created a doc last yr outlining major critiques+responses, but I'm always looking to expand: https://t.co/yj4YVn7A8k
It already discusses:
*quantifying data
*IRR
*method justification
*sample size
I’m growing annoyed at pressure to study, use, and brand everything AI. It’s not even that I’m disinterested in AI, but the concomitant push towards intellectual and cultural conformity in academia at this moment is suffocating.
I'm on the job market! I'll be finishing my Post Doc at @MSFTResearch (summer 2024). My work explores ways to measure & address AI-related risks while ensuring impacted communities get a seat at the table. I'm open to TT faculty roles & research focused industry jobs. About me:
Interested in building tools for better research? Come work with me, @usabart, and @SusanEMcG as a funded #phd student at @socclemson to enhance the security and privacy of #hci and #AI research through #openscience research methods. DM/email/apply to Clemson’s HCC PhD program.
I'm looking for newly tenured / close-to-tenure faculty at U.S. R1s who don't/didn't usually work >40 hours/week pre-tenure
Is that you?
Many popular narratives on the tenure-grind involve working obscene hours. I'm thinking of writing a blog post to highlight counter-examples!
👏 @AnantaSoneji will present her first first-author paper "“Flawed, but like democracy we don’t have a better system”: The Experts’ Insights on the Peer Review Process of Evaluating Security Papers" @IEEESSP
If you're in academia, you'll want to 👀👇

We have a two year postdoc position on human-AI collaboration at Clemson! The postdoc will work with @nathanmcneese (and potentially me too) on awesome projects! Start immediately or in a few months! Please contact @nathanmcneese if you are interested!
Come work with me at Clemson! The SoC is hiring faculty interested in AI very broadly defined. Folks with an interest in human-AI interaction, fairness, trust, human-centered AI, and AI applied to HCI and social sciences are especially encouraged to apply. https://t.co/sYTWGYkK7R

A must watch. The cascading effects of COVID shatter the ENTIRE health system. People will die from other causes because they can’t get care. So very tragic, and avoidable.
‼️ CS Faculty Job Market ‼️
For a 3rd yr, I'm curating CS faculty ads that balance teaching & research.
For me, they were the *only* positions that fit my work priorities, but are still invisible to many graduates. Let's make them visible. Please RT
