To help explain to my son why the playground & his nursery had shut, my friends @ClaireJStandley, Hannah Smith and I wrote this story.

“Is it me or GP?” A question I’ve often asked at the end of a day in general practice.
Thanks to my GPACF colleagues @alice_howe1@DrAdamHS et al. for summarising this discussion so eloquently. Would be interested to hear #teamGP thoughts.

The perpetual infantilisation of the medical workforce must stop. When we people get it, people are #juniordoctors well into their 30-40s, & 50s (like me). This article by @gabyhinsliff shows why the term must be ditched. Being a doctor despite age requires maturity beyond years

There’s a lot of confusion about junior doctors at the moment. Who are they? How much are they paid? Why are they striking? I’m a junior doctor, and thought I’d do a thread on the topic, so that people can link to it when someone spouts misinformation
A 🧵
There has been debate from all sides about recent
@NHS strikes by @TheBMA @BMA_JuniorDocs @theRCN vS @DHSCgovuk@SteveBarclay
The government has a duty to the tax payers to spend in the best way possible for the country.
Here is how a 20% rise in wages ACROSS the NHS impacts 🧵
Some of the coverage of #JuniorDoctorsStrike today seems unfair in claiming @BMA_JuniorDocs are refusing to budge from 35% pay rise demand. The BMA said before the strike that what they wanted was a "credible offer" and 35% was a starting point.
So where is the counter offer?
and without #payrestoration we will see even more doctors leave the NHS for more favourable conditions elsewhere, not to mention my concerns about medicine being restricted to a career for the privileged few with family support to buffer them through.

I am a “junior doctor”. I have been for 12 years. Sethina describes here what it is that junior doctors do more eloquently than I can. Yes, we are still learning and honing our skills as we train but we are also working hard to provide high quality care. We are not students.
I am a ‘junior doctor’. We are not children or immature. We will put you on life support, send you off to sleep for an operation, perform surgery, treat your heart attack, diagnose your illness, deliver babies, prescribe life changing medications & save lives. Waiting lists, NHS
As a medical student my university fees were 1/9th of what they are for students now. I thought my student debt was hefty but it’s nothing compared to what medical graduates are now faced with. And pay has not changed in 12 years from what I can see. #payrestoration is essential
Given refugees are in the news a lot, here’s all I know. On 16th April 22 we hosted a family of six fleeing from Ukraine. Both adults found jobs amazingly quickly. Today, 349 days later, they’re moving out to a private rental to be closer to work. Refugees ADD to our economy. 1/2

Between us we must have lots of thoughts on how to improve this.
