Ever wondered what signals drive the activation of primordial follicles into the growing pool of follicles? We use scRNAseq to ask this question in the mouse ovary, described in this preprint summarising my two years at @TheCrick 🎉🎉
Our February issue is online! Read about oocytes from stem cells (@RG_EggLab@_emilyrfrost), Ganoderma lucidum as a next-generation cell factory, precision fermentation for non-alcoholic beer (@s_kampranis) and more: https://t.co/bDZ4L81L24
Contraception is a blunt tool. It's high time that we explore its effects on fertility, as well as its interrelationship with biological sex. Tap below to watch @GunesTaylor dismantle how we regulate fertility in the modern world. https://t.co/WeXYmx9MDU
Congrats to @RG_EggLab and collaborators in Vietnam and Brussels for the success of CAPA-IVM. It’s incredible to be witnessing the translation of a career in biomed to outcomes for patients - what a day!! 🤩
It's been a long hard road but we got there in the end. First Australian baby using a new form of IVM that all but eliminates drugs from IVF for PCOS patients. Thanks to so many worldwide. What a privilege biomedical research can be.

Huge thanks to @RG_EggLab for all your efforts @UNSWMedicine. Please reach out and let us know what you think 😊
One BIGGGGGG question (with a million different answers):
How long until we can make human gametes entirely in a dish?
Our new opinion article is out in @TrendsinBiotech, where we discuss why we think in vitro gametogenesis (IVG) in women will be incredibly challenging🧵.
There’s lots of open questions surrounding IVG. Even if IVG can be achieved, will it ever be safe?
Assessment of mutational load, risk to future generations and the testing of eggs without generating a pregnancy are all factors considered in our Outstanding Questions.
@GunesTaylor@TheCrick@BadgeRobin @scientistjessie What a way to start!! Glad the Aussie contingent at the Crick is still bringing the fairy bread goods 🤩🤩
Check out our new review in @NatRevUrol where we discuss the genes driving sex development and genes involved in many types of DSD. Huge thanks to Ale, Nayla and Vince for all their hard work putting this together! @Hudson_Research
