@U_arctos I always think about this when people complain about the Shell. The only building that's still there is what's now Tina's Carryout, the round window right of frame.
@Jake_W@questionableway Cincy's decline was also pretty sharp, but less because of the decline of industry and more because we demolished half the city for the car
@lacherbauer@cityaestheticss The empty space, parking lots, and big box stores exist BECAUSE OF the high way. It wasn't empty space until the highways destroyed everything.
@SaffronOlive I'm not a cEDH player, but in a world with a game changers list that protects lower level play from problematic cards, what other system is there to protect from cards that are problematic for higher level play besides banning?
@EvanSchultheis@cityaestheticss They are about 50' below street grade and the foundations were designed for skyscraper loads above, so it's possible to cap them. But pretty much zero funding or political will for it.
@U_arctos For me it's the CBD + the Banks, although I've lived in OTR north of Liberty for years now. No matter what though, if you include OTR you have to include the West End
This is a delicate moment. Itโs a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.
It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge.
In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new beginning. Letโs hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead.
@U_arctos Hey at least this time they're only blocking most of it! Used to live right there and I swear this is the worst block in the city for parking violations
@nickhasthoughts I had a thought earlier, what if vehicles this size required a CDL to drive? Would definitely decrease the number, allows businesses to still use them, and theoretically someone with a CDL will know how to drive one of these monsters safely
@mikerugnetta As you should! Phenomenology is unsurprisingly pervasive in architecture/interior design theory but it's been falling out of favor as of late
@NKYNewsNetwork@nswartsell By this logic the bus wouldn't exist either. All transit needs subsidized at some point, and Red Bike just lost its funding from UC Health
