Morning Update - Hurricane #Melissa is on final approach - and unfortunately, she’s showing no signs of weakening. Landfall is imminent.

To Jamaica - this will be unlike anything you’ve seen in your lifetime. Prepare yourselves - it’s going to get bad. Very bad

Waters will rise and storm surge will rush inland along parts lower elevations along the coast. A blinding rain will fall for much of the day. And a viscous wind will blow as violent as a Tornado for some.

Some will see a calm eye. DO NOT venture out if you’re in the eye. Violent winds are following just behind.

Get to shelter and don’t come out until it’s over. Hang on. Survive.

You will get through this. Jamaica will get through this. Rely on one another. Pray to God. Rely on Him.

See you on the other side. The World is with you.

Hurricane #Erin is absolutely stunning this morning.

Erin has made a full recovery after multiple eyewall replacement cycles, wind shear and dry air, and now has this beautiful galaxy-like structure.

The core (eye) itself is extremely small, perhaps even a little bit smaller than its first one, back when it went from Cat 1-5 in 18 hours. However, the overall size of the storm is much larger.
We do not expect another rapid intensification phase to take place, but we do expect Erin to reach at least mid-range Category 3 intensity before she hits cooler waters, which will then weaken her after her near pass of the Mid-Atlantic.
