It doesn’t feel good as a disabled person to be stared at or pointed at. As a parent, you should try educating them. Kids rely on you to introduce them to new things. They think we’re different because they were never shown otherwise.
Dear parents,
It’s normal for kids to be curious about disabled people. Of course they’ll stare at us in public or ask invasive questions. To try to avoid this, introduce some books involving disabled characters. They think we’re strange because they only see non-disabled people
It will never cease to amaze me how many able bodied people get all doom and gloom when they’re sick for a month or so and start getting upset about not being able to do normal tasks, yet act like disabled people are the weak ones. 💀
Welcome to our every day life pookie lol
west hollywood (@WeHoCity) lowering their pride flags to half-mast to honor a racist, homophobic, transphobic podcast host who spent his life organizing this generation’s nazi youth… shameful, bizarre, & embarrassing
The longer you live with a chronic illness, the more it takes away from you.
When you hit the point where you think you don’t have anything left to lose, you will find out that you can lose even more.
The only routes to getting support as a disabled person require you to endlessly talk about all the things you CAN'T do in excruciating detail, and I need people to people to understand how soul-destroying that can be.
I just woke up a few mins ago & I don’t have something super eloquent to say about this, but the outright bullying in the ‘CC’ community has got to stop. The things some of you will say about another person, who are often disabled & trying to adapt, are so fucking nasty. Stop it.
“We can’t afford so many autistic and ADHD people on benefits.”
Translation: we can afford MPs’ expenses, banker bonuses, corporate tax breaks, corporate tax evasion — but not disabled kids having support, dignity, possibility.
#Disability isn’t the drain.
Retweeting so everyone knows the face and name of yet another danger to society masquerading as a doctor. 🥰 These are the kinds of doctors that wind up unaliving people through their arrogance and medical negligence. 💯
@DiaryofaSickGrl Going to therapy before even having the child/children. Far too many of us wound up in Therapy because we had to deal with people that should have been in therapy.🥲
Every single time I try to start mending shit with my father I’m reminded why he won’t be allowed in the room when I die. He even admitted it himself, he’s not cut out to be a father, let alone a father to a disabled child. Just absolutely no fucking common sense. At all.
@DiaryofaSickGrl Absolutely. Maybe not for every type, but yes. However it’s far more profitable for them to put us through chemo and radiation and stuff us full of pills, so we’ll never actually see the cure. I wholeheartedly believe that they have cures for many of the diseases we have💯
Unemployed disabled people are not having fun at home. We are miserable. Get rid of the belief that we’re comfortable and enjoying it. We’re in pain, we’re sick, we’re sad, we’re bored, we’re stressed, and we’re lonely. We’re still suffering even though we aren’t working a 9-5.
I would cure the Neurofibromatosis tumors slowing taking my life, because they’re taking my life. I wouldn’t cure my autism because it’s who I am. Not difficult to grasp.
