Its so interesting that car dealerships don't really want to sell new cars for cash any more. They are laser focused on the financing option and get visibly frustrated when you say you just want to give them money and get a car and that's the whole transaction.
“People are careful with their money when they buy a refrigerator or plane ticket. But they hear about a stock on a bus and they'll put 5k, 10k behind it” - Peter Lynch
Would love to know your thoughts on this article from CFA institute. The production cost is closest to traditional fundamentals Ive seen. I find BTC interesting because theres no other asset (land, gold maybe) that can be used as a timeline to measure comparable inflation adjusted value (fixed or decreasing denominator).
@chamath At its core, without all the things everyone has mentioned that are not actually the sport, It’s boring. Scoring is too frequent and comes too easily compared to other sports. It’s like watching two people exchange blows in a pillow fight.
@T_Gatzemeier 👍 I’m still amazed how many people ignore such a powerful account because of 1) a perception of income limitations or 2) an oversimplified calculation of present vs future tax rates. It’s so much more than that.

At my hedge fund, I pay an analyst to walk around parks in Austin, SF, and NY and ask these people who are tanning at 2pm on a Tuesday where they work.
We then short the stock.
We’re up 728% this year.
@MeasureTwiceMNY Nailed it. I would add that realistically there are so many variables that go into a plan, it’s biggest value is navigating around known big risks & opportunities (ie change in income, scenarios or taxes) and less about actual future dollar outcomes. The future is unknowable.
It’s time to stop saying “People of Color.”
It’s meaningless to classify people by skin color. It needlessly pits “whites” against “nonwhites.”
In the USA, we are Americans. Period.
Both things are true:
1. You should get to know your clients.
2. When folks like Ramsey broadcast to millions that $1M safely supports an $80K/yr inflation-adjusted perpetuity, a swift and thoughtful rebuke from experts on the technicalities is both appropriate and necessary.
