As a small kid, I became obsessed with throw-ins ⚽️

Arsenal fans don’t appreciate Zubimendi enough this season, came in his first year, covered more ground than everyone, played every game and won the league with them, added 5 goals and 2 assists on top of that.

But beyond the numbers, it’s the control he gave Arsenal that really changed everything.

He brought calmness to their buildup, security in transitions, and positional discipline that allowed the attacking players to take more risks. A lot of the dirty work he does goes unnoticed because it’s subtle always offering angles, always scanning, always in the right zone before danger even develops.

Rice gives Arsenal power and intensity, Ødegaard gives them creativity, but Zubimendi gave them rhythm and balance. He’s the type of midfielder you only fully appreciate when he’s not there.

He might have dropped form a bit in the second half of the season but he adapted immediately to the Premier League. No settling-in period, no excuses about physicality or intensity. He looked like he had been playing in Arteta’s structure for years.

He featured in every single one of Arsenal's 35 Premier League games this season. Every. Single. One. Starting 33 of them. While players around him rotated, rested and recovered. Zubimendi was always there. Always available. Always reliable.

And honestly… that kind of consistency doesn't happen by accident.

5 goals. 1 assist. 2,911 minutes played. An average rating of 7.2 across the entire season for a defensive midfielder that most fans still can't fully appreciate. That's not a holding mid quietly doing the dirty work. That's a complete footballer.

🔸 Scored twice in a single game against Nottingham Forest back in September a reminder that this man can do everything.

🔸The engine that protects Saliba and Gabriel from ever being truly exposed.

🔸The reason Odegaard gets the freedom to roam and create.

🔸 The reason Rice gets to bomb forward without the team falling apart behind him.

🔸 Arsenal paid €70 million for him and he's been worth every single penny.

There's a reason Arteta never dropped him. There's a reason he played nearly 3,000 minutes in his debut Premier League season.

Some players win you trophies with moments. Zubimendi won Arsenal the title with consistency, discipline and the kind of quiet excellence that only reveals itself when you actually sit down and look at the numbers.

He's not the most exciting player in this squad. But take him out and this whole thing falls apart. 🔴⚪🏆
