@burgahmeister@Gryffix It's not an impulse purchase for most but same for much of the US. People from actual poor countries manage to scrape enough so it shouldn't surprise anyone when europeans do it too.
@WootRises@BreedYorkshire@samayatollah@nypost It's that and the amount of people during exceptional heat where emergency services were already going to be busy.
You coud still argue if that's the state's place but anyways it's done and was ultimately not very enforced.
@GroovySciFi Defense spending arguments are part of this. If Europe's social system is a US subsidy then it also explains the poor US social system. If that's not universally true (it isn't) then it has to be admitted that US QOL is a self inflicted policy choice (it is).
@charliyuri Oh forgot to add to what you said earlier cause while nightclubs were forming the rock world was full of LSD and heroin and coke but it's considered, at worst, a "tragic flaw".
@charliyuri The British scene got a lot more cultural media though and is more recent. Totally not surprised Charli has Human Traffic logged on letterboxd.
@charliyuri I've never known anyone like, properly famous. But even a moderate online following can start to get to you.
Doesn't help that she went from niche pop artist to a major one in like only a month back in 2024.
