Writer, multimedia nerd, introvert. Currently with @UN_SouthSudan #DurableSolutions. Former comms lead for cross-border aid to Syria @UNOCHA @DRHCSyria.
Today concludes the Malakal visit by 🇸🇸 Government, @unmissmedia, @OCHASouthSudan ,@UNHCRSouthSudan & @SSNGOF .

South Sudan stands at a dangerous crossroads.
Conflict up. Hunger up. Displacement up. Attacks on aid workers up.
I saw it firsthand and felt the scale of this despair.
We need access, funding and respect for international humanitarian law.

Pleased to discuss #DurableSolutions progress in South Sudan with Laila Bourhil, @UN Head of Integrated Office 🇸🇸, today in anticipation of the 2nd Steering Committee. @IGADsecretariat stands committed to supporting the Government of South Sudan.

The @UN Security Council stands alone in its authority to act on behalf of all member countries on questions of peace & security.
It alone adopts decisions binding on all.
No other body or ad-hoc coalition can legally require all countries to comply with decisions on peace & security.
Its responsibility is singular.
Its obligation is universal.
That is why reform is essential.
That is why we must act without delay to enhance the representation & effectiveness of the Security Council.
Cambodian creator TomrongPich joined UNICEF at displacement sites, hearing from children and families about life in displacement.
Displacement robs children of education, nutrition and clean water.

#UNMISS strongly condemns the killing of one of its staff in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal. “We are devastated by the loss of our colleague,” said Anita Kiki Gbeho, Officer-in-Charge of the @UNPeacekeeping mission. “Such killing of United Nations personnel is unacceptable,” she added, calling for an immediate investigation.

Thank you CNN for putting a spotlight on the crisis for children in South Sudan, and the need for stronger support for children in the world's youngest country.
Communities in Unity, #SouthSudan, face the twin shocks of conflict & climate.
To support displaced families, the @UN & partners are supporting the Government by reclaiming land & restoring livelihoods. A Durable Solutions Roadmap is underway.

To those with power and influence.
Last year, we called on you to act:
🔴Respect the rules of war.
🔴Protect humanitarians and civilians.
🔴End impunity.
Nothing changed.
How much more suffering will you ignore?
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we urge you to #ActForHumanity – now.
We welcome the ceasefire agreement between #Cambodia and #Thailand, as the recent escalation of violence has had grave consequences on civilians on both sides. Deaths and injuries have been reported, and tens of thousands of people have been displaced. Access to health care is also affected with health facilities being closed in both countries.
We call on both governments to always ensure the protection of health care facilities, workers, and access to essential health services.
The best medicine is peace.
UNICEF supplies are reaching displaced families in Banteay Meanchey.
Soap, water filters, and other essentials are supporting 523 families—over 2,500 people—helping prevent disease and preserve dignity.
More assistance is on the way. #ForEveryChild, peace and protection
I am deeply concerned about the recent armed clashes at the border between Cambodia & Thailand.
I urge both sides to immediately agree to a ceasefire & to address any issues through dialogue.
I remain available to assist in efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the dispute.
Happy #MothersDay to all mothers around the world 💐
Let’s honour the strength of women like Ayoush – a farmer and single mother from Syria, who has endured 20 years of hardship to care for her children.
