The Lady Indians' streak of hard luck at the regional is over. The Jim Ned girls have taken the regional title with a win over Dalhart.
Congrats to coach Cooley and JNHS!!
Accountability is only offensive to those who don’t hold themselves accountable.
When you hold yourself to a high standard, you aren’t threatened by accountability.
Last night we celebrated phenomenal educators across the Brazos Valley at the #BVEA Awards. I am beyond proud of @_meaganmitchell for winning Middle School Teacher of the Year and @graser_karin for being Principal Top 5 Finalist. Great educators serve in our public schools.
@Coach_JBush24@TurntupDeion2 I was told the same thing at the state tournament this weekend. No more state semis there - just state finals in the Alamodome. Fewer rounds in the playoffs too, I believe.
DEVELOPING MENTAL TOUGHNESS
"You get mental toughness because things are hard. You've got to embrace hard.
Tough times make hard people. Easy times make soft people...
You've gotta learn to overcome things that are hard." (Nick Saban)
I can't stop thinking about this question:
Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown?
In 2021, Georgia Tech strength coach Lewis Caralla delivered this epic speech to the football team.
If it doesn't get you motivated, you may need to check your pulse...
He opens with a few harsh truths:
• Winning isn't loyal to you
• Winning doesn't care about you
• Winning doesn't care how sore you are
• Winning doesn't care how hard you work
• Winning doesn't care how much sleep you get
But it's his question that stuck with me:
Are you willing to sprint when the distance is unknown?
The willingness to sprint with no clear view of the finish line is rare.
It requires two things:
1. A deep belief in one's self
2. A deep belief in the mission
If you have 1 but not 2, you won't be able to do it.
If you have 2 but not 1, you won't be able to do it.
You need both.
In my observation, the greatest things in life are accomplished when you're willing to sprint when the distance is unknown:
The sprint to care for your loved ones in their time of need.
The sprint to build something meaningful.
The sprint to serve others and create positive ripples in the world.
Goal: Find those rare things in life that you're willing to sprint for when the distance is unknown.
That, to me, is the definition of winning.
"And why chase winning? Because the only thing that's guaranteed in life if you don't chase it is losing."
Strong Foundations Team spent Monday focused on clarity. It is more than posting learning targets. It’s about helping students gauge their own progress through success criteria, exemplars & feedback. Any day besides this team is a GREAT day! Thank you @LizMillerMEd@NIETteach!
Love this illustration between motivation and discipline.
“Self-discipline is the ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not.” —Elbert Hubbard
