first whiteboard: “how many windows = 14” “how many houses = 1” “how many pillars = 4” and “how many balconies = 1”
second whiteboard: “one circle window and 17 square windows, what is the sum for the windows? = 18”
on this #ElonDay, I asked students to answer “How Many?” as our #math warmup using a picture of Mooney. These are a few of their answers! They brought in counting, multiplication, and geometry!! #ElonEd
@krinnsilver@AdairMindy great question! so they started out as sixths, and students took some creative liberties to achieve the birds of their dreams 🐦
Was inspired by @AdairMindy and did some art integration in math with my students! We are currently learning about fractions, and so we turned fraction circle pieces into birds! #mathematics#mathchat
if you know of any resources, pls link them below! I would appreciate it :) So far, I am being trained in Nonviolent Communication through my school, but am independently looking for resources as well! #ElonEd#edutwitter#restorativepractices
My education goal for 2023: growing my understanding of trauma-informed restorative practices. This will better my teaching AND help me build an even stronger community in my classroom.
look at this AWESOME poster a parent donated to our classroom :) I love how the strategies incorporate mindfulness and thinking for ourselves! #EdTech#DigitalCitizenship
after teaching #3rdgrade for a week, here’s what my Ss “learned” about me:
⭐️ fav movie is “magical school bus”
⭐️ fav subject is school
⭐️ i drive a van bc i’m an adult
⭐️ my name is “miya temmy”
⭐️ i’ve taught for 1 year and 3 days
⭐️ fav food is dunkin’ donuts
A6: I’ve learned to give myself and others grace. Things aren’t going to go to plan, technology isn’t always going to work, and sometimes I have bad days. It’s okay!! it reminds me i’m human and doing the best with what I’ve got #ElonEd
@scomorrison@learnforjustice they are so great!! my students really connect with them and they help facilitate some wonderfully important conversations.
A2: (pt 2.) the pandemic has also showed me just how hard my school works to provide resources such as food, clothes, + technology (even internet) to our families. Ts shouldn’t have to work this hard/use their own money to give our students equal access to their learning #ElonEd
A2: Learning online is not a sufficient replacement for learning in person. I cant be upset when my students aren’t learning fractions when I know they are taking care of siblings, cooking themselves meals, and just trying to survive. #ElonEd
