The same man who once prayed and cried for the downfall of PDP and Jonathan has today become a politician himself. After losing out in APC, the same PDP he once insulted came to his aid with a gubernatorial ticket, and today he contests under the PDP platform and under Goodluck Jonathan.

Indeed, wonders shall never end. May Allah never test our Imaan beyond what we can bear.

I advise every APC aspirant whose governor has asked them to step down to simply do so.

The committees sent by party headquarters to conduct direct primaries in places where consensus failed are mostly there for formality. In some cases, members of the committe are handpicked by governors. By the time they leave the governor’s lodge, the deal is already sealed. No real election takes place. They simply submit the names handed to them, stuff their pockets, and head back to Abuja.

People shout “direct primaries” as the answer, but in reality it is often just the name of the preferred candidate that gets written down. It is hardly different from how local government elections are conducted in Nigeria.

The same thing happened in Kano South Senatorial District in 2019. The people openly backed Kawu Sumaila, but because Ganduje supported Kabiru Gaya, the final figures somehow claimed that 1,035,057 people voted for Gaya!

So honestly, if the governor has not endorsed you for the ticket, don’t waste your time and resources.

Our partnership was anchored on a common vision: to build an inclusive, united, and just nation. Yar’Adua was a man of quiet but profound conviction who believed that the strength of a country is measured by its commitment to the rule of law and the sanctity of the ballot.

He did not just lead; he served with a humility that is rare in the corridors of power, often putting national stability above personal or political gain.

His record in peace-building stands as an enduring legacy. He understood that true nation-building requires the courage to admit flaws and the sincerity to fix them.

For leaders, the life of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua serves as an enduring lesson. His example teaches us that leadership is a sacred trust, and that progress is only sustainable when it is rooted in transparency, accountability, and a genuine love for the people.

Sixteen years later, his strides continue to testify for him. As we remember this "Gentleman President," let us rededicate ourselves to the worthy causes he pursued with such passion.

I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) continues to grant him eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus.
