🚨 For anyone tracking the under-16 social media bans in Canada and the UK, you might have noticed the government suddenly walking back some specific wording.
They backed off forcing you to upload credit cards or facial scans because of the public backlash, and now they’re pushing a "backend token system". It sounds less intrusive on the surface, but here is the truth about what that actually means, because most people are being completely misled by that marketing:
A cryptographic token isn't a magic, anonymous poker chip. To work, a token has to be anchored to something verified. That means your physical device, your phone carrier contract, or your real identity is permanently tethered to that token.
Every single time your phone throws that token to let you log into an app, it logs exactly who you are, where you are, and what you're doing.
It isn't a privacy shield to protect kids. It's a digital passport that tracks an adult's every move across the internet.
Why doesn't the government introduce a different platform, such as Revolut, Wise or Alipay, without the support of a major global company like Ooredoo? Then we will give the administration the credit it deserves.
PayPal services being introduced in the Maldives through @OoredooMaldives is a major digital milestone and the fulfilment of an important pledge by President Dr @MMuizzu
This opens new opportunities for freelancers, creators, entrepreneurs and small businesses to connect with global markets.

Where are the parks in Phase 2? “Moving people from overcrowded conditions” & cite Hiyaa, yet its population density is enormous. It’s ironic that recreational facilities are absent from your post. Phase 2 has none. HM has just two badminton courts despite the sport’s popularity.
This image tells a story that many tried to dismiss as impossible.
Under President Yameen's leadership, Hulhumalé Phase II was transformed from a vast stretch of reclaimed lagoon into a planned urban expansion within a remarkably short period. The reclamation of over 240 hectares of land created space for thousands of Maldivian families, businesses, schools, parks and future economic opportunities.
Most significantly, the Hiya housing project delivered thousands of apartments, giving ordinary citizens a realistic pathway to home ownership and affordable housing. For many families, it meant moving from overcrowded conditions to modern homes with proper infrastructure and services.
The impact was not only social but economic:
✅ Thousands of jobs created during reclamation and construction
✅ Increased housing supply helping ease pressure on Malé
✅ Expansion of commercial activity and investment opportunities
✅ Improved living standards for thousands of families
✅ Creation of a new urban centre supporting long-term national development
Projects of this scale usually take decades from planning to delivery. President Yameen reclaimed the land, built the infrastructure, and delivered the largest housing project in Maldivian history within a single administration.
Today, thousands benefit every day from Hulhumalé Phase II and Hiya. It stands as a lasting example of visionary leadership, decisive execution, and nation-building that continues to shape the future of the Maldives. #Maldives #Hulhumale #Hiya #Development #YameenLegacy @prz_ymn

@Midhuamsaud We must diversify our economy & explore new opportunities
Tourism benefits only a few. Must break free from oligarchic control
Excess debt, vanity projects & overstaffed missions persist. Fair wages for locals can reduce reliance on foreign labour
A holistic strategy is essential
In the name of development, Elites/Politicians are selling off prime local lands to build "resorts" cutting off locals to their own lands. From Albania to Jamaica and Maldives, we are losing land and sovereignty.
Albanians atleast stood up before it was too late. When will we?
Australia’s under-16s social media ban has been a complete failure.
It will be a complete failure in the UK as well.
It’s not about “protecting children.” It’s about the mass surveillance of adults and what we say online. A dangerous threat to our civil liberties.
@zariyand We could have been so much more. Instead, we are held back by a handful of wealthy elites and politicians treating the public purse like their own piggy bank. Wasteful vanity projects and grand schemes pilling on astronomical debt, endangering our sovereignty. The madness goes on
@DhivehiOne Our national mindset must change for these ideas. Skills are vital for prosperity. We lack domestic industries in food production, manufacturing and trades eg carpentry. We are surrounded by sea yet seafood offering is limited. Current politicians won’t enable this shift.
