I had a great lunch at an Ethiopian restaurant in Johannesburg at 41 Stanley Avenue in Milpark/Braamfontein Werf, an area filled with restaurants, boutiques and bookshops.
Little Addis Café serves wonderful Ethiopian cuisine, and I enjoyed the traditional Mahberawi Ethiopian platter served on injera, the spongy sourdough flatbread. It came with different types of meat and cost a modest R150.
A Mahberawi is a mixed Ethiopian platter that comes with injera and a variety of dishes such as spicy beef stew, chicken, lentils, collard greens, cabbage with potatoes and carrots, and beetroot salad. Of course, I had to wash it down with something tasty 🤣🤣🤣
I love supporting ordinary businesses because that is how they can also grow to become established food chains. Supporting them keeps our cultures alive and creates opportunities for others to dream bigger.
Which places that sell African cuisine do you recommend?
Cape Town’s Two Realities - The “Best-Run City” is a myth peddled by pro-DA media, the DA and the ANC president.
Those who still praise Cape Town as a shining example of the DA’s good governance are blissfully ignorant.
In reality, the city is deeply divided between privilege and neglect.
In Cape Town, budgets pour into freeways, CBD upgrades, and fancy green projects.
On the Cape Flats and in townships, families face flooded streets, sewage spills, unsafe wiring, and endless housing waiting lists.
Some facts that expose the imbalance:
Housing: Over 400,000 families are still waiting. Inner-city land is blocked and preserved for developers earmarked by the DA while billions are spent building far from jobs and schools.
Water and Sanitation: Camps Bay pump station got R427m, while whole settlements still swim in sewage.
Energy: Only 3% of the budget for informal electrification. Children continue to die from unsafe wires.
Transport: Billions on tenders to upgrade the freeways, while MyCiTi avoids most working-class areas. Township commuters walk dangerous roads in the dark.
Safety: Children dying in sinkholes, uncovered drains, and unsafe toilets — tragedies that could be prevented.
Clean audits doesn’t mean working toilets. Big budgets doesn’t mean fairness. And PR slogans don’t change the daily reality for poor families.
Capetonians deserve a government that will serve one city, not two. A government will prioritise housing, safety, sanitation, and transport serves for all vulnerable communities, not the privileged few!

As a European citizen,
I categorically and unequivocally distance myself from Von der Leyen and everything she claims to represent. She does not speak in my name. She does not represent the will, dignity, or any values of the peoples of #Europe.
She has served the interests of powerful corporations and political lobbies, betraying the democratic foundations of the European Union. She has made backroom deals that benefit the few while sacrificing the rights, livelihoods, and future of the many. her unflinching support for the Genocide of the Palestinian people most tragically, the mass killing of Palestinian children. Instead of standing on the side of international law, human rights, and justice, she has chosen to align herself with policies and powers that bomb civilians, destroy hospitals, and deny an entire population their most basic human aid and dignity (may you burn to hell for it)
By offering political cover to those committing WAR CRIMES, she has made the European Union complicit in one of the most horrifying moral failures of our time. Her words and actions have not only deepened the suffering of an oppressed people, but have also brought shame to all Europe.
Let this be stated with absolute clarity:
Ursula von der Leyen does NOT represent me, nor Europeans, she represents only herself, and the narrow elite who profit from war, oppression, and silence!!
She must be held accountable morally, legally, and historically for the immense harm she has enabled and supported. Justice demands it.
Humanity demands it.
Not in my name. Not in our name.
Viola Davis condemns 'white genocide' narrative, voices solidarity with South Africans
Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis has spoken out against the unfounded "white genocide" narrative, throwing her support behind the people of South Africa and calling for a truthful reckoning with the country’s racial history.
In a powerful Instagram post, Davis denounced the narrative as misleading and harmful. Sharing a clip from CNN’s Abby Phillip, who challenged the theory by noting that the majority of farm attack victims in South Africa are Black, Davis urged her followers to look beyond fear-driven propaganda.
“Spent a lot of time in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, and Durban. There is no argument. There is no justification. I’ve seen the ravages of apartheid. I’ve seen the townships — ALL Black. Full stop,” Davis wrote.
The acclaimed actress concluded her message with a note of solidarity: “I stand with my brothers and sisters in South Africa. NGIYAKUTHANDA!”
Her comments come amid a renewed international spotlight on the country’s racial dynamics, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks echoing the "white genocide" claim and President Cyril Ramaphosa's high stakes meeting with Trump.

My grandpa has had the same washing machine since the 80s. It still works. He’s never had to replace it. Meanwhile, I have to buy a new one every five years.
It’s not just washing machines. It’s everything. Fridges, dishwashers, phones. We used to build things to last. Now we build things to sell.
If they don’t last, what’s the point?
I just want a washing machine that works for 40 years. Is that too much to ask?
Just listened to a really interesting podcast about lesbian seagulls in which an animal researcher pointed out that same-sex sexual relations have been recorded in thousands of animal species, and this could possibly have an evolutionary advantage.
Basically, if you have adults in a species that are happy to pair up but can’t reproduce on their own then they’re perfectly positioned to step in and raise any orphaned young, thus increasing the survival of the animal colony

Bella Hadid is simply holding up a map of Palestine before the U.N. created Israel.
When her father, Mohamed Hadid, was a young boy in the city of Safed his family took in German and Polish Jewish refugees who escaped war in Europe. Their guests promptly locked them out of their home and booted them from their land.
This is the story of Palestinians. Now tell me, who is disgusting: Bella, or @RepNancyMace?
