Gary makes the appeal to people who have some money but aren’t rich… he wants you to know he’s not after you. He’s wanting to tax billionaires who make passive income.
Here’s why this doesn’t stack up…
1. If a UK tax resident makes passive income they are already highly taxed. If they make it in a company, the company pays tax on earnings and then they pay tax to receive it. It’s a lot of tax. A new wealth tax might push them over the edge to restructure and leave - company and personal.
Alternatively, they might have a company overseas that’s not paying UK corp tax - OK but that money is taxed as soon as it’s of benefit to a UK tax resident. It’s income, or it’s dividends or it’s a BIK… it’s taxed. A new wealth tax would easily push them to leave.
Or finally, this person is not a UK tax resident and their company is overseas. SO, a new wealth tax in the UK wont impact them.
In summary, a new wealth tax would only impact the person who is already highly taxed. NOT someone who “doesn’t pay tax on their passive income”.
2. This 1000% WILL impact regular people. The UK Government will bring in the new wealth tax framework and make a forecast on how much it will raise. They will adjust their spending accordingly. Then when it doesn’t work, they will expand the score of the tax. What will start out as a tax on the super-rich will rapidly become a tax on people with £5m then £2M then £1M.
Once they’ve established the framework for a wealth tax it’s easy to change the bands. Ask yourself “is the UK government reliable in raising taxes on people who are already highly taxed?” If yes… then this is their next way of hitting you up.
We ALL want an affluent middle class. We all want more widespread prosperity. But this wealth tax idea will drive money away from the UK leaving us all poorer and more highly taxed. Don’t fall for it.
Banning teenagers from social media with ludicrous conditions is unworkable, unrealistic and unwanted.
Here’s a mad idea - let parents parent.
Not the state, but mums, dads, grandparents or whoever else.
Restore Britain will always trust the family over big government.
JUST IN: UK Government clarifies adults will still be able to use social media by verifying their identities with digital IDs, facial recognition, passports and credit cards.
@Sai_Ishaya_@Lord__Dexter They have stated that this ban will likely cover more than what's initially going to be banned.
They've defined social media as a platform where you can add friends, message other people, comment or upload user generated content.
Which is nearly everything
